AppleseedScore: 6/10
This film’s fun factor just barely stays floating a wee bit higher than that place we call the middle ground. It is largely a terrorist versus the police sort of story, where the law enforcement of Olympus are up against a group who are out to |

topple the regimental, yet orderly powers that be in the city. The problem the movie suffers from is that it is very stop and go, allowing boredom to settle in. This makes watching Appleseed a bit more of an ordeal, however the character interaction is decent, saving the film from a complete crash and burn.

The animation is just as close to average as everything else here. Detail is okay, and movement is fluid enough, but it just doesn’t stand out. Unfortunately I had the sad misfortune of watching the dubbed version, which was not at all done well.
It’s not a terrible movie, but Appleseed just doesn’t do
anything that will dazzle the masses. If you’re a fan of Masamune Shirow’s Appleseed
manga, you may want to check out this OAV, otherwise another selection would be better. |
