Brigadoon Volume 2
As might remember from Volume 1, Marin – the cute as button heroine – has been taken into police custody thanks to the attention of a big blue “living weapon” named Melan, who has sworn to protect Marin from all dangers – not the least of which is the continual stream of Monomakia from the shimmering Brigadoon in the sky.
Volume 2 open with Marin at the police station being interrogated. Then, in a Terminator moment, Pyon Silver arrives on the scene in a burst of slaughter to kill Marin. Pyon Silver is from the same “family” as Melan Blue but is instead bent on destroying Marin.
Just in time, Melan Blue shows up to prevent Marin from being killed. The action moves to a baseball stadium for a showdown of sorts with lots of explosions, sword-slashing and handy flashbacks to fill in some story gaps. It culminates in the |

stadium being reduced to a crater, but the more important thing is that the relationship between Melan Blue, Marin and Brigadoon is explored – although briefly and with such ambiguity the connection is still not completely revealed.
After that battle, Melan Blue us owed a bit of R&R, so Marin suggests a trip to the beach. But they have to go at night so Marin’s friend can come. (Her friend is being kept away from Marin by her mother, |

who considers Marin “tenement trash.”) As Marin and her friend frolic on the beach in the middle of the night, Melan senses a Monomakia nearby and leaves the girls on the beach. It’s a given that the girls will get into trouble – and they do. Marin finds another ampoule (like Melan’s) in a cave… just before the cave collapses on them.
The next episode moves the action to the communal bathhouse. Much nudity, a moral crisis, a mess of pink goo, and an ethereal woman later, Melan comes out on top and the tenement house is one member short.
The new “friendly” Monomakia found in the previous episode comes in very handy in the episode and plays a pivotal and hilarious role in saving the day.
Volume 2 closes with Marin taking a trip to the Expo after winning a trip. Another hi-octane battle ensues with much property damage.
Volume 2 puts Brigadoon in a comfortable groove. The connections between the main players still isn’t fully known, but at least the episodes remain entertaining. Not laugh-out-loud funny of the same insanity as GTO but the story’s interesting enough and so far the series has avoided the over-cuteness you might expect from a series featuring a 13-year old girl.
