Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu! Volume 2: Full Metal Fracas (DVD)
A
simple art assignment turns deadly as the entire class gangs up on the
mercenary-turned-model.
Then
he has to defend Kaname against Yakuza thugs, battle karate masters,
escape a chainsaw-wielding janitor, and rein in a super-creepy stalker.
And
just when you thought it couldn’t get crazier, Kaname and Sousuke head
to a haunted hospital, where blood-spattered ghosts teach the pair a
frightening lesson in deception.
The
combat and comedy never let up in the second volume of Full Metal Panic?
Fumoffu! Hold on to you seats (and sides), because this disc packs a
full metal punch!
Yay! More FMP Fumoffu! Instead of a full 30 minutes of a storyline, we get a series of half episodes which make for a much higher comedy content.
Episode
04: The Hamburger Hill of Art/Single Minded Stakeout! The
entire 11th grade is outdoors to do some sketching for art
class, however, no one seems particularly interested in being the model
for this assignment. After Kaname suggests Sousuke, he agrees but is
unsure of what his role will actually be. While the class argues about
how they want him to pose, Sousuke approaches the teacher to ask for
guidance on being a model – from his convoluted explanation, Sousuke
distilled it down to a camouflage exercise and as you can guess, he
won’t be caught easily. So with the grades of the entire class in
Sousuke’s delusional hands… you’d better believe this isn’t
going to be pretty.
Kaname
is a tad burned out from all of Sousuke’s trouble making, and it’s
starting to affect her outlook on life. So when she runs into a boy that
she previously had feelings for, she readily agrees to go on a date with
him. Both Sousuke and Kyoko have noticed the change in Kaname, but
Sousuke hasn’t been able to put his finger on it yet – so Kyoko
decides to help him follow Kaname to her date at Fumofumo Land. As per
usual, Kaname manages to get into trouble but Sousuke is going to have
to disguise himself as Bonta-kun so she doesn’t know that he’s been
following her. (But I think that she might be able to figure it out,
because I don’t think Bonta-kun carries beanbag shotguns usually).
Episode 05: The Pure Yet Impure Grappler/Trespassing on Good Faith Kaname manages once again to draw trouble to herself and Kyoko, but this time, Sousuke is no where to be found and she ends up being saved by a young man working at a nearby store. The man, Issei, is a proud and arrogant man but possesses some incredible martial arts skills – after acting dismissive towards Kaname, she manages to keep her cool during her response and that catches the eye of the youth. Now back on campus, Kaname and Sousuke have been ordered to clear out the Karate Club from their room on campus so that it can be torn down, however, the denizens aren’t particularly agreeable and will only vacate if they can be defeated. Once Sousuke accomplishes that, he learns that the Captain of the team is Issei and his skills will certainly provide an interesting challenge for the specialist.

Issei isn’t particularly satisfied with the results of the match, and so he wants a rematch to regain his honor, but Sagara isn’t going to be drawn into just any fight so he runs away. Issei charges blindly (not hard to believe with his eyesight) and accidentally punches the janitor. The injuries are severe enough that he’s going to miss some work, so the President of the Student Council comes up with a great idea to resolve the dispute – the two are going to have a |

competition where
they help the poor man recuperate while they tend to his needs as well
as the campus. The two leave a swath of destruction in their wake, but
only a fraction of what they can cause when they actually start working
together.
Episode 06: The Hard Sell Fetish/The Patient of Darkness A
sexual predator has been sighted around the school campus, so Sousuke
has put up some warnings, but that apparently doesn’t help Kyoko
because she is attacked… and the offender Pony (a guy wearing a horse
mask) forcibly put her hair into a pony-tail and that’s it. Despite
the lame threat that he represents, both the police and the Sagara want
him captured, unfortunately, the resident officer was the one who tried
to chase down Sagara and Kaname in a previous episode. She doesn’t
remember Kaname, but she certainly would for Sousuke. Sagara once again
wears his Bonta-kun suit to try and catch the culprit and protect his
identity but ends up in a gunfight with the officer while Kaname tries
to escape the actual culprit.
Kaname
has a small group of friends over, Sousuke, Mizuki and Ryoko, and
she’s having fun telling ghost stories to everyone. As to be expected,
Sousuke isn’t scared at all so they decide to have a challenge for
courage and go to an abandoned hospital nearby. Ryoko refuses to go
outright, and Mizuki can’t even enter the hospital out of fear. As the
pair go through the building, Kaname is repeatedly scared out of her
wits but Sagara remains unflappable. What is it going to take to terrify
Sousuke, and what kind of unspeakable horror will it be?
This disc of Full Metal Panic Fumoffu was just as enjoyable as the first one. I’m enjoying the series so much, that I’m hoping that the next series will be licensed soon and brought over.
