Galaxy Angel A (DVD)

Since the last time we saw the Galaxy Angels, the Angel Brigade disbanded over a petty argument about who ate all the desserts, and everyone went their separate ways. But the threat of a new menacing Lost Technology (and being laid off because he no longer has a team to lead), forces Lt. Colonel Volcott to reveal who the real culprit is in order to convince the girls to come back and reform the brigade.

Now that the Angels are back, they are going to have to stay sharp and out of trouble if they want to keep their jobs. There’s a new upstart squad that’s gunning to make them look bad and take over their work. The Angel Brigade is going to have to collect more Lost Technology, save more planets, and rescue more lost kittens than the Twin Star Team. There can never be enough laughter and excitement (and sweets) when the Galaxy Angels blast into action!

Woohoo! 26 episodes of Galaxy Angel in one collection! My heart may not recover from this one. This is a whole lotta GA, but you’ll never hear me say that it’s a bad thing… no siree. I’m actually limiting myself to a few episodes at a time, that way I don’t get too much candy at once… damn self-restraint!

Episode 01: Old Man Detective Novel Rice Porridge

The Angel Brigade has suffered a near irreparable break – Lt. Colonel Volcott snaked the desserts and the girls blamed each other for the theft. He didn’t speak up, and now the team is completely separated… but with no team to command, his retirement is in jeopardy especially now that a competing team has been formed: The Twin Suns Brigade with Major Mary commanding the twins Kokomo (the “muscle” with a disturbing love of parfaits) and Malibu (the brains and empathy of the team) Peyrot. Despite their age of 10, they are an elite combat force and have shown talent at recovering Lost Technology. So to save his retirement, Lt. Colonel Volcott is going to have to fess up to his theft and get the girls back together. This may be difficult with Milfeulle having won the lottery and all.

Episode 02: Original Angel Parfait with the Works

Well, Volcott was able to convince the girls to return at the expense of his general well being. But they’ve got their first mission against a Lost Technology that has formed a 500 foot tall sentient waterspout in the middle of a city and as usual, the Angel Brigade doesn’t look too prepared. The Twin Suns swoop in to save the day, but they accidentally trap the Lost Technology with Milfeulle’s winnings and slip away. So when the Galaxy Angels free the beast again to try and recover the money and it manages to adapt… who’s going to stop it this time?

Episode 03: Shuffle French without Dessert

3rd Favorite Episode this season. The Angel Brigade is facing a rather rough command review, but Milfeulle is missing and the arbiter is not amused to see someone not show up to an important meeting as this. Volcott comes up with the difficult decision of impersonating Milfeulle. But with him missing, Mint impersonates the Lt. Colonel. Vanilla then impersonates Mint. Ranpha does Vanilla and then Forte does a brutal Ranpha. Ranpha then ditches Vanilla and does an even more vicious Forte (complete with spiked bat and spiked mohawk). Then the impersonations only get worse.

Episode 04: Special Appetizer without Main Dish

Despite their effectiveness, Major Mary rides Kokomo and Malibu rather hard in their training regiment. When paired with the fact that she treats them like the ten year olds they are instead of the elite fighting force that they’ve been training as, the air of mutiny lingers. So when a Lost Technology goes on rampage in a nearby city, Major Mary has to negotiate to get them to comply… battling a difficult technology is one thing, it’s an entirely other thing when the Angel Brigade gets involved.

Episode 05: Deluxe Milfeulle Surprise Sandwich

The Angel Brigade has been dispatched to recover an information disc from a ruined society. The planet has been unstable for many years, but a surge in activity will destroy it soon so the team is sent in now before it’s too late. With only one of the Frames available, the entire team has to squeeze into Milfeulle’s ship, and when she botches the landing Forte and Ranpha would rather not have her along to get the disc. So they leave Milfeulle on guard duty, but she somehow manages to get her face stuck in a stone pillar while screwing around. So the team is on a planet that is about to break apart and the only person who can fly the ship has her face stuck in a pillar.

Episode 06: Hug Hug Fish Pot

Forte and Milfeulle are walking around a desert region looking for a reported Lost Technology, but aren’t having any particular luck and the terrain certainly isn’t helping any. With Milfeulle in tow, Forte is stuck helping every imaginable hurt animal that they come across. Meanwhile, the rest of the team is in the planet’s major city where every person insists on hugging them (the planetary greeting for strangers apparently). Milfeulle and Forte start being visited by friendly sprites of the animals that they’ve saved who rush up and hug them. The situation start getting dangerous as the larger ones start coming at them, but they still keep coming across animals in need (and Milfeulle wants to help them all). So Forte comes up with a daring solution… masks of Ranpha and Mint.

Episode 07: Chilled Mackerel with a Prize

War has broken out, and both sides are locked in intense guerilla warfare within the city. One side desperately waits for reinforcement from the Angel Brigade, but the team has been stranded nearby without food – Ranpha, Forte, Mint, and Vanilla are sitting around a fire hungry and cold. They wait for Milfeulle to return, and they listen to the radio for news. When the newscaster reads out the winning lottery numbers, the team learns that they’ve won 500 million! Now the talk of dying turns surprisingly aggressive, as each person would become richer as their teammates fall.

Episode 08: Slippery Pasta

Mint gets stuck with looking for some papers in the Vault, and she comes across a Lost Technology that they’ve been storing – a duck’s head costume. Knowing Mint’s cosplay fanaticism, it’s not going to take much for her to try it on… but it has a rather nasty effect – it removes all of Mint’s hair. Now balder than a cue ball, she searches for information to reverse the affliction, preferably without the rest of the team learning.

Episode 09: Overpriced Salad Bar

Ranpha’s successfully completed her latest mission, but she’s run out of water on board her Frame so she heads to a nearby planet in search of some. Finding the beautiful planet abandoned, she heads into a restaurant still being tended by a active serving robot. After she tries to get lunch from it, and is served something completely inedible, she tries to slink away. The robot insists that she pay her bill, and so Ranpha hands over GC currency but the robot will only accept the planet’s currency. With Ranpha insisting that she doesn’t have any of that money, the robot believes that she is skipping out on the check and attacks ferociously. How is Ranpha going to escape this one?

Episode 10: Angel Banana Discount

The Angel Brigade has been purchased! A wealthy woman has decided that she would like the team in her employ and puts the members of the team to work on the most difficult tasks on her planet. When the members see how difficult they are, they begin to cut corners to get them done quickly… which can only lead to hilarious results.

Episode 11: Painful Walnut Pie

Mint’s visiting the doctor after not feeling particularly well, and he’s got a horrifying prognosis. She has Costume Disease! He states that she will fall deathly ill if she wears another costume, and for a cosplaying otaku like Mint, the cure is definitely worse than the cold. The Angel Brigade know that she’s been hospitalized, but not for what and each person brings her costumes, thinking that it will make her happy instead of crazy. When finally released, her first mission is on a planet in a Mardi Gras-like celebration where everyone is in costume… How is Mint going to get past this temptation?

Episode 12: Angel Hotchpotch Taste Test

The Armed Forces are holding a competition to find Miss Female Soldier, and as usual the Angel Brigade are in definite competition with each other. As soon as the competition becomes less about showcasing individual talents and more about sabotaging each other, you just know it’s on!

Episode 13: Ultra Rare Fortune Cookie

The team is heading back to base after another successful mission, but the fun’s over, they have to get ready for a general audit and the team is going to have to do a ton of paperwork. That doesn’t sound particularly good to Milfeulle, and with her luck, she subconsciously opens a wormhole that drops the team onto a jungle planet nowhere near their home galaxy. The environment is horribly tough, but as usual, the only one unaffected is happy-go-lucky Milfeulle. How are they going to convince Milfeulle to use her powers to get them all home?

Episode 14: Ultra Hot Kid’s Meal

Kokomo and Malibu get distracted and accidentally leave the Lost Technology out. Ranpha finds it, and opens it to find a bunch of different pastries which she brings to the rest of the team. Eating them all, the team has been reduced in age ranging from newborn Milfeulle to 6 year old Forte. Now the twins are going to have to chase down the entire Angel Brigade… poor, poor, bastards especially with all that equipment on the base.

Episode 15: Good-bye to Our Steaming Teapot

Milfeulle gets herself arrested for laughing at the portrait of a local monarch who has a horse-face. So Vanilla is going to have to break her out of the prison before she gets executed. But how on the Earth are you going to initiate and complete an elaborate plan with Milfeulle involved?

Episode 16: Mustached Beef Rib Rice Bowl with Rich Sauce

MY FAVORITE EPISODE THIS SEASON! Forte and the Lt. Colonel are moving a Lost Technology when they trip and it opens on them. The gas that escapes  seems to have no effect, but the next morning both have changed genders! This would be bad enough if it weren’t for Ranpha – the closeness that she’s always shared with Forte is blossoming into full-on infatuation and she intends to marry him! Her! Whatever! Forte is left with no option but to run from the now insane Ranpha who will stop at nothing to make him/her hers. A laugh riot all the way to the obvious finish.

Episode 17: Pour, Ambitious, Chilled Sesame Chicken

The Angel Brigade has fallen into some serious financial troubles thanks to some infighting amongst the government and the higher up in the military. So the food situation has become most dire, and Vanilla has tried to raise money by becoming a street peddler. When she falls ill in the cold, a kindly old man takes her home and brings her back to health and he tells her about the rivalry between himself and his brother who both wish to rule the world. Meanwhile, Milfeulle has found a high paying part-time job for herself and the rest of the team. They have been hired to help finish a giant robot for the brother, but once he finds out they are forced to join the organization. So when he makes his attempt at ruling the world, Vanilla and the brother are going to stand in their way with his giant robot!

Episode 18: A String of Handmade Noodles with No Connection

2nd Favorite Episode this season. The entire team is in peril – they dangle over a ledge, with Forte holding on for dear life to the rock face while the rest of the team is in a chain below her. As the argument starts over whose fault this is, the blame starts enraging each member of the team. Once they fall, Mint is next to save them all… but she’s none too happy about the conversation before and she’s in a vengeful mood. Then they fall again. And again. Even again. And the accusations become more absurd. Watch for Mint’s pet and Ranpha’s Super-Saiyan-like transformation.

Episode 19: Bamboo-Cutter Platter

Taking a twist from the children’s story about the old couple who find a baby in a bamboo stalk (The Bamboo Princess), we get a Lost Technology shaped like a bamboo shoot that grants children to those who find them. After the entire Angel Brigade ends up with babies, how effective are they going to be as a fighting force?

Episode 20: Wandering Cat Food

Poor Mint is very upset about the death of her pet cat, Miko, who has been staying with her grandmother. Also, Milfeulle manages to lose her wallet (again) and is crying over that. Ranpha to the rescue! She has been reading an occult book and decides to use it to hypnotize Milfeulle so she can remember where she left it, but she accidentally holds a séance instead and summons the lost spirit of Miko. Now instead of a hypnotized Milfeulle, we have a cat-Milfeulle. Things go from bad to worse once the spirits starts jumping hosts.

Episode 21: Frequently Ordered Sushi

The Angel Brigade’s favorite day is definitely payday! With their money in hand, they are quick to head out on the town in search of food. They stumble across a new restaurant – the Sushi Dojo. The master of the restaurant? A giant octopus. And he’s taken their paycheques as an entrance fee. Will the girls be able to defeat a fast talking and sushi-fighting opponent? Or will they get their money’s worth?

Episode 22: Fortuitous Family Set

The Salvatore family is one of the most wealthy families in the galaxy, and when the patriarch comes to visit the Angel Brigade, he’s on a mission. He’s come to seek out Ranpha, and he wants to reward her for her kindness by making her his daughter. Seeing the zeroes involved, she’s quick to trade in the Framboise name for Salvatore. Now with the financial might behind her, how quickly will Ranpha rise the ranks? Or abuse the system?

Episode 23: All-You-Can-Eat Juicy Yakiniku

Milfeulle has been studying a new Lost Technology. This one sends her to an alternate dimension – the first of which is one where the entire Angel Brigade is very career driven and efficient. Then the next is the pirate dimension. Then the Basketball dimension and robot dimension. Very funny.

Episode 24: Glitter Clunk Mixed Juice

Ranpha has suckered the entire Angel Brigade into a group date on board a cruise ship… but the pairs seem a little off. Ranpha’s date is a beautiful bishonen; Forte’s is a space octopus; Mint has a dying boy (a la Hyatt); Milfeulle has the Lt. Colonel; and Vanilla has a rice cooker. And from there, things only get worse.

Episode 25: Junk Ramen, Extra Noodles Available

The Angel Brigade is entering one of Milfeulle’s cakes into a baking competition, but she doesn’t want to be disturbed or helped in during the cooking process. So the rest of the team is hiding and helping on the sly… but no one seems to notice that Vanilla isn’t her normal self. SHE’S BEEN REPLACED BY A ROBOT! The controllers are a group of thugs hell bent on ruining the Angel Brigade! How will they stop the villains? Will the rest of the team even notice?

Episode 26: Continuously Pushed Sweet Red Bean Soup

The girls have recovered a very special Lost Technology – a little red box with a prominent green button on it. The button just asks to be touched… but knowing their track record with Lost Technology, it would probably be best if they just left it alone. But the Angel Brigade being themselves, they quickly discover that it can create an object that the person who pushed the button wanted. But the cost is the reduction of their life span indicated on the object created. Wishes fulfilled, but at a terrible cost – not as though it’s going to stop those girls.

Bonus Episode: Very Fried Chicken

This episode comes from next season (Galaxy Angel AA) and has the team in a dire situation. Their budget for the coming year is going to decides based on their placing against the Twin Suns Team in a flight competition. Malibu has created the plane for his brother, but the Angel’s entry is being brought in by push-cart when the competition has already started… so the Lt. Colonel must compete using only a chicken suit. This is not going to go well.

Aww, it’s over already. That concludes the third season, now nothing to do but to wait for the 4th Season to be licensed and brought over. I’ll wait. No seriously, I’ll be here. Galaxy Angel AA. Woo!
