Galaxy Angel Z Volume 3: Stranded Without Dessert (DVD)
Woohoo! Another dose of Galaxy Angel nuttiness, and I couldn’t be happier.
Episode 13: In-Flight Meal The
Angel Brigade is doing a post-mortem on their recently finished battle
against the “Ultimate Planet-Destroying Bio-Weapon” while flying
home. At this point, the girls aren’t so certain who was able to get
in the finishing blow, nor who activated it, nor who’s responsible for
the devastation that it caused. But it is certain that none of them want
to get the credit for being the one who caused the widespread
destruction that the weapon’s activation caused. If nothing else, a
new twist on passing the buck, Galaxy Angel style. Highlight of the
episode: Normad’s assertion that it couldn’t be Vanilla’s fault,
while she continues to say nothing.
Episode 14: Love And Doubt Fried Cabbage Cake A kidnapping! Well, a stuffed-doll theft at least. A confused man takes Normad and when Vanilla aggressively demands him back, the man becomes annoyed and drives off with the belligerent toy. This theft will not go unpunished as Vanilla chases after her quarry using any and all vehicles that she can take over. No matter what the villain throws at Vanilla, nothing seems to be able to stop the determined little girl. Highlight of the episode: Vanilla taking control of a run-away train to continue the chase.
Episode 15: Fresh Catch; Miraculous Boat-Wrap Sushi The Galaxy Angels are on vacation! Borrowing a boat from a friend of Mint, the girls hit the open water. Forte is determined to win a local prize for capturing the elusive giant Phantom fish worth a bounty of 1 million space bucks… err … CGs. Despite the impressive fishing equipment, the Phantom fish doesn’t want to be caught easily and considering its’ size, I don’t know if the girls want to catch it. Highlight of the episode: when things are looking their bleakest, even quiet Vanilla chooses to abandon ship rather than continue the fight (with Forte-san stuck and unable to free herself).
Episode 16: Forbidden Meuniere; Alluring Grated Yam Topping Even
in the future, some species suffer from over hunting thanks to humans
but the rare “Mock Sunfish” is being hunted for its’ beautifying
effects on women’s skin. So when the Galaxy Angels are dispatched to
protect the last one, it’s no surprise that |

Mint, Ranpha, and Forte secretly decide to capture and consume the last Mock Sunfish, despite Milfeulle’s assertion at how cute it is. So with Milfeulle as its only ally, the Mock Sunfish’s days seem to be numbered. Highlight of the episode: the first close up of the Mock Sunfish with legs and arms.
Episode 17: Moon-View Soba Sans Moon It’s the worst possible day, it’s the one day of the year when Milfeulle’s |

unnaturally good luck shifts to unbelievable bad luck. As
her mood gets worse, her bad luck increases exponentially and the
effects start to have wide area effects (such as looming natural
disasters). So the rest of the Angel Brigade has been deployed to
secretly make sure that Milfeulle’s day goes as good as possible. But
with luck like Milfeulle’s,
anything could happen at any time. Highlight of the episode: (tie) Forte
lending Milfeulle a silver belt that she had her eye on (it’s a belt
with a skull pattern) / Vanilla wearing a disguise with a giant
handlebar mustache (and wearing it after the disguise had been
discarded).
Episode 18: A Never Before Seen Mystery Carpacchio The “Final Episode of the Season”. The girls get new uniforms just in time – a curry fight ruined their previous ones. So for the entire episode you have to put up with the hideous new color schemes. On their first mission with the new uniforms, the girls start to display some strange new super powers – Forte can breathe fire, Vanilla has laser beams shoot from her eyes at will, Mint can levitate objects, and Ranpha can… well… transform into a pig (no powers for poor Milfeulle). The sudden emergence of new powers quickly goes to their heads and before you know it, the girls are having a full on Battle Royale through the city and Milfie is trying desperately to get them to stop. How on Earth is this fight going to be resolved? Highlight of the episode: Ranpha’s second transformation where she turns into a bigger big.
Episode 19: Gun Smoke & Cigarette Smoke Cassoulet “Bonus Episode” – a darker episode where Forte visits a male friend from her past who has had some difficulties in being in the armed forces. This man has an attraction for the stoic Forte, but she won’t reciprocate the feelings at least not in the ways that he’d like. He is going to abandon his post for a chance to kill the man who killed his parents and left him for dead on a separate occasion. In the background, the news of a “date” for Forte leaves Ranpha scared at the possibility of someone else having a successful relationship before her, so she runs to the scene with Milfeulle and Normad to cause interference. Very dark and cryptic episode that shows off the more serious side of the team leader of the Angel Brigade. Highlight of the episode: Ranpha losing control of her car into a florist who specializes in only cacti with Milfeulle lamenting that she was thrown clear safely.
This
disc isn’t as strong as some of the other ones, but that’s the way
it falls some times with episodes – they all can’t be winners.
Volume 3 brings Galaxy Angel Z to a close, and now I must begin
my dance to pray to the Anime Gods to have seasons 3 and 4 licensed.
Definitely worth it to hardcore GA’ers.

are you actually giving up your faith?" "No!
No no no no no no no! Well, yes." - Marge and Homer (Simpsons) |
