12 “Happily, Happily Ever After”
Taruto
has been captured by the Byoh! And if they reach the well at Castella
Hall, Taruto may never see her home again! Who can save Taruto? And will
the truth about whether or not Taruto is the Kinka Princess finally be
revealed?
Well, I guess this is the portion of the review pile that will give me the saccharine portion that I lack in my otaku diet (by personal choice). Magical Meow Meow Taruto is a terribly cute series about the potential princess who is so good that all the people around her fall in love with the sweetheart. Short catgirl maids and bishonen guys – it may be too much for me to handle.
Episode 10: Shudder, Shudder Taruto
seems to have had a premonition about the coming of the Byoh – she saw
herself and Kakipi surrounded by a group of them and with them advancing
on them. She awoke from the dream, but she was not the only one to see
it, Kakipi saw it also. Kakipi tells sensei about the dream, but he
doesn’t believe him. But he does not lose hope, he intends to rally
the troops to help out.
Charlotte and Chitose decide that they are going to help, so they go looking for Taruto and are going to try and help her stay away from the Byoh. Gallette and Chiffon are discussing the possible existence of the Byoh with Taruto, when they |

actually arrive to take her. Gallette pushes
Taruto to freedom, while Chiffon stalls for time. Taruto meets up with
the girls, and the threesome head for some safety. The witch from the
forest sends her troops out to keep an eye on the “magic user” –
so they head out to watch the sensei (instead of Taruto… good help is
hard to find).
Iori worries about the potential threat of losing Taruto, and he goes to |

visit a medium. She reads his fortune, and she senses the potential loss
of someone close to him. Iori sees the potential loss of Taruto as
terrible and he rushes to find her. Iori comes across Taruto being
escorted by Charlotte and Chitose and quickly holds and protects her.
That night, the Byoh come to the house and they intend to make another
attempt to catch Taruto – but now they’ve got a hostage: Kakipi.
Episode 11: Scary, Scary Just as Taruto intends to surrender herself to save Kakipi, her sensei suddenly arrives, saves her friend and stands to protect her from the Byoh. He uses his trickery to make the Byoh think that he’s Taruto while she and Kakipi escape in the other direction. After leading the team on a wild goose chase, the Byoh eventually catch up to the old sensei and leave him in a pile for his troubles. Taruto is moving frantically and she is caught in a net by Anzuko, who is distraught over her recent loss (Kakapi jumps on to keep tabs on her). Walking in a stupor, she starts heading home but Iori catches up and tries to get Taruto back. While Anzaki sits in her room in mourning, the Byoh are outside the window and hypnotize her into letting them in. Just as she’s opening the window – Iori’s words finally reach her and she opens the front door to talk to him. At this moment, Kakapi’s escape plan comes into action – he springs Taruto and heads for the open door without even stopping at Iori… and leads them right into a trap. The Byoh have surrounded the pair, but thankfully they are saved by Charlotte and Chitose using sensei’s bag of tricks.
They
cast another spell to disorient the group and tell Taruto to head to
Castella Hall while everyone runs in a different direction. The ruse
works temporarily, until the Byoh trip over themselves enough to
actually track down the actual Taruto and leave Kakipi with a big lump
on his head. Iori finally gets himself away from Anzuko and heads back
to the medium for some advice to find Taruto – she gives him a
magamata and tells him that it’s a good luck charm. She suggests that
he should head to Castella Hall.
Episode 12: Happily, Happily Ever After We learn that the witch is actually a magic user from Kinka, she was attacked by the Byoh while traveling and left for dead. She was saved by a kind medium who nursed her back to health, and as she regained her strength, the lady fell ill. The witch then remain behind to help, but felt guilty when the royal family of Kinka was wiped out – she intends to help and her assistants are using magic to disorient the Byoh right now. The Byoh are trying to escape with Taruto, but they’ve entered the forest and the witch’s assistants are tricking them repeatedly. Sensei uses this opportunity to steal Taruto back, and now he’s on the run again, but this time he’s got some help. Every one of Taruto’s friends has appeared and they are doing their best to help stall the Byoh.
At
Castella Hall, Gallette waits for Taruto and he’s going to escort her
in but the Byoh leader gets there once again and grabs her. The witch is
waiting at the top this time and she uses a spell to protect her from
the attack. The leader is furious and is going to make a last ditch rush
at the witch and Taruto, but the gateway to Kinka opens and the royal
guard is there. The Magistrate warns the Byoh against attacking and they
are forced to retreat. At this point, Taruto’s sister separates from
her body and we learn that the sister is actually the Princess (because
of her inherent powers) while Taruto is not needed for the continuing
war against the Byoh. The Princess thanks everybody and tells Taruto
that she is jealous that she’s found such a great happiness and wishes
her well.
Magical
Meow Meow Taruto is a very pretty animation with some darn cute
characters and story to match. If you need a shot of sweetness in your
anime, this is a good series to try out.
