MD Geist

Well, now here’s a tape completely devoid of substance. MD Geist is an hour-long romp of mindless carnage and mayhem. Now some of you are probably wondering what’s wrong with that, there’s a whole lot wrong folks. This is an almost insultingly mindless anime centering on a sociopath who just likes to go around killing people. Viewers get to see Geist go from one situation that calls for some skull crushing to another. There’s only the weakest overlying plot that the planet he’s on is in a civil war and that the government forces had a last ditch countermeasure in place where a huge legion of robotic killing machines would be unleashed if they were defeated. Unfortunately the countdown has been started early to launch the  Death Force and

Geist and company must stop this. There’s no character development, no meat to the story. Just stop the countdown while beating the tar out of any that stand in the way. There is some trivial little parts at the beginning where Geist asserts his authority over a band of thugs, making him their leader and turning them into mercenaries, but that just comes off as an excuse for some additional scenes of mindless violence. To add insult to injury MD stands for Most Dangerous… sheesh!

The visuals aren’t any better than the plot sadly, as they lack detail. Presentation is like that of a very low grade TV show. The design of the characters, the robots, and the environments is also uninspiring as they all look like derivatives of designs from a zillion other TV show and films.

Voice act is atrocious too as it sounds like the actors are winging it, but the weak story line and script can’t be helping matters there. The music too is very annoying with less than stellar sound.

It’s all scary stuff here people. Avoid MD Geist like the plague.
