Please Twins Volume 03: Only For You (DVD)

He’s so close but yet so…

Maiku’s classmate, Kousei Shimazaki, seems to only have eyes for Maiku but there seems to be something going on between Kousei and their upperclassman, Tsubaki Oribe. On a sunny afternoon, Maiku, Karen, and Miina go out into town. But due to certain circumstances, each of the girls spends time alone with Maiku and they are tossed from temptation to break the love alliance and feeling left alone. Then one day, Miina comes across a friend from middle school and some things about her past are revealed.

After the high-jinks on the beach, it’s back to school for more… well… slightly different high-jinks. The love alliance is still in effect between Miina and Karen, but who is going to be the next girl targeting Maiku?

Episode 08: Be Honest In Love

Tsubaki’s constant attempts to draw Maiku’s attention and possibly affection keep getting shorted out by both his personality and the interference of Miina and Karen. So she asks for the help of President Morino, who decides to offer Maiku an interim position (paid) on the student council to assist the planning on an upcoming festival. Except, the only other member of the council is Tsubaki. To prevent Miina and Karen from interfering, Morino uses her extensive intel connections to threaten to prevent the girls from working at their part-time job if they try and get involved in the meetings. So as a counter, the girls have Marie keep an eye on the meetings and make sure nothing inappropriate happens.

The meetings go uneventfully for quite a few days until Marie accidentally frightens Tsubaki and she jumps into Maiku and his hands unintentionally brush up against her. The contact makes her upset and she screams and slaps Maiku before storming off. Coming to her aid is Kousei of all people, which surprises Maiku and after explaining the situation he asks about the history between the two of them. Learning about how they used to date until Kousei groped her during a kiss, Tsubaki slapped

him and has wanted nothing to do with him since. The discussion leads Kousei to rediscover how much he still loves Tsubaki and lead him to try and reconcile – like only he can.

Episode 09: Don’t Leave Me Out

After all of the council’s hard work to set up the festival, it rains. So, the festival is cancelled as is the day of school so deciding that it would be

a waste of a free day off, the threesome decides to go downtown to go shopping. The trip downtown quickly degrades into a day of miscommunication and misadventures when Maiku and Miina leave Karen to shop and share a drink in the park (and and in-direct kiss thanks to the shared drink), Maiku buys an outfit for Karen after she spent a good stretch of time window shopping, and the threesome can’t find each other after being separated. As you could imagine, comedy ensues and Maiku vows to never go outside with these two again.

Episode 10: I Want To Run Again

Miina meets up with one of her old friends from her last school, Yuka. The meeting and time alone with Yuka has left Miina a little mopey and withdrawn from both Karen and Maiku. This change in Miina, has left the two wondering what they can do for their family member. After a talk with Mizuho-sensei, Miina decides that she should tell Maiku and Karen about her past. Miina used to be a long-distance runner and at one point lived with Yuka and her mother (a former runner in her own right) and was going to have a scholarship to a high-school with her running up until an accident left her injured and unable to participate. Once her scholarship was withdrawn, she felt as though she had no right to live with Yuka and her mother, so she decided to leave and head to the house in her photograph looking for a new place to live. A very powerful episode about wanting to know where you belong in the world.

This disc of Please Twins has been a little more serious than the previous 2 discs and now that we’re nearing the end of the series, it looks as though it’s only going to get heavier as we go. An excellent disc.
