S-Cry-Ed Volume 6: Final Fight (DVD)

When Ryuho is mortally wounded by Mujo, Scheris has only one choice but to use her Alter, Eternal Devote, and make the ultimate sacrifice for the man she loves. Using the final enhanced forms of their Alters, both Ryuho and Kazuma battle Mujo. Even after Mujo is defeated, the battle continues. Ryuho and Kazuma must repel the mainland Alters to ensure the independence of the Lost Ground. When the dust settles and the Lost Ground begins to rebuild, Ryuho and Kazuma decide its time to finish the fight that began when they first met.

Well, all the underlings have been defeated and so it looks like we’re on to the main event.  Ryuho and Kazuma are heading for Mujo and they intend to get Kanami back and get some revenge for all those lives that he’s ruined.

Episode 23: Scheris Adjani

A quick flash-back to when Scheris was saved from captivity. She was being held as a prisoner until Ryuho arrested her captors and freed her. At the bottom level of the base, Cougar is watching Mimori while she examines the structure of the fortress. While she is analyzing the building, Mujo appears, knocks away Cougar and asks Mimori to come with him. Cougar rejoins the fight in a flash, tells Mimori to run away, and then releases his completed Alter (a suit of Armor that allows him to move REALLY fast). Jumping into battle, Cougar cannot hit Mujo and then loses when Mujo uses his absorption power to remove his Alter. Then on the prone Cougar, he uses his newly acquired powers to kick him when he’s down. Seeing his chance for victory, Mujo orders his automated defenses to attack everyone in the base. Mimori comes across Urizane and Elian who have defeated their attackers; Ryuho comes across the Alter form that killed his mother; and Kazuma comes across 2 giant mecha-looking Alters while he is drained from repeated use of his Shell Bullet technique. Mimori intends to try and destroy the control systems for the fortress, both Elian and Urizane agree to help. They are successful which is quite fortunate for everyone else, because Kazuma cannot defeat the mechs that keep regrowing blown-off parts, and Ryuho has been seriously wounded by the Alter. Scheris has fought her way past the automated defenses and has reached the side of Ryuho, who doesn’t look as though he’ll live.

Scheris decides to use the full power of her Alter – Eternal Devote which heals the grievous wounds but at the expense of her life. As a last breath, she kisses the unconscious Ryuho and when he awakens, she is gone. Ryuho is extremely upset but does not know what to do until Kazuma arrives and tells him that it is ok to cry. After that, his eyes well up and he cries out Scheris’ name.

Episode 24: Fist

With the main control system crippled, Elian finally is able to use his powers once again and so he starts delivering a situation report on all of the people – Ryuho is ok but tired, Kazuma is exhausted and hurt, Scheris is dead, and Cougar is as well (or at least he can’t get a reading for him). Kazuma and Ryuho continue onwards towards the central room where Mujo is holding Kanami – after Mujo threatens to kill her, Kazuma keeps coming forward saying that she would want him to fight. So Mujo calls his Alter form again, and Ryuho intercepts it and will fight against it once again. Kazuma will fight directly against Mujo.

Between Kazuma and Mujo, the villain uses his absorption powers again and steals Kazuma’s Alter and then moves in for the kill with his close range attack. Kazuma is being tortured by the same attack that Mujo used on Cougar, but he refuses to fall. Ryuho is not faring much better against the Alter and is taking some damaging hits against the powerhouse. Mimori, Urizane, and Elian are trying to make their way

upstairs to help in any way possible but the fortress is falling apart from the 2 pitched battles. They are saved from falling debris from an unlikely source – Cougar’s car… but he’s not in it.

Kazuma refuses to fall and once again calls on his Alter, but this time it’s different – both arms have become armored instead of just his right and he dives right at Mujo again. Mujo tries to use absorption again, but

more parts of Kazuma become armored until a full suit appears. Cougar arrives and tells Kazuma that he’s bringing Kanami and the other 2 controlling Alters to safety. As Kazuma chastises him for telling him what to do, Cougar responds that it’s his dying wish and runs the children away from the fight. Diving back into the fight, Kazuma finally dominates, and with his final punch he re-opens the gateway and knocks Mujo into and through it. Ryuho accomplishes the same level as he did in his fight with Zigmarl – he once again forms his armor and cuts the Alter Embodiment in half which sends it back to the other side.

Kazuma and Ryuho meet up in front of the open gateway and as they are coming down from their fights, Mujo once again passes through the portal – this time in a giant reptilian shape. He attacks indiscriminately, but does not scratch the two warriors. Kazuma rears back one more time and kills Mujo… but the fortress is now falling apart.

Episode 25: Native

Tachibana arrives and pulls the two exhausted warriors out of the wreckage, but they both stand back up and say that they must prepare to defend against the reprisals from the mainland. Mimori and Kanami are staying with Tachibana, and they hope to see Ryuho and Kazuma soon, but the pair have been attacking any landing attempts that the mainland makes. Mimori believes that it is important for people in the Lost Ground to become self-sufficient, and so any interference by the mainland will weaken the people. The two warriors will patrol the shores and prevent any landing by mainland forces while the rest of the populace will try and build new lives. At the end of the episode, Ryuho and Kazuma believe that there will not be any more beachhead attempts, but instead will be insidious attacks with spy and subterfuge and so each man plans to do investigation on their own… but first, they still itch to fight one more time.

Episode 26: Dream

The entire last episode is dedicated to a drop-down drag-out fight between Kazuma and Ryuho. Starting out with their most basic Alter forms, the fight moves through every technique and ability that the two men have used through the series until they exhaust each other back down to a simple fist-fight. A very intense but inconclusive ending.

Scryed has been an entertaining series; I was a little disappointed with the ending, it’s almost as if the series would have been better served to cut off the last two episodes. Action and science-fiction aficionados will be happy and should definitely give the series a try.
