Steam Detectives Case 3 (DVD)
Narutaki,
Ling-Ling, and Goriki have their hands full with four new cases of
murder and mayhem that baffle the local police. When Steam City’s
legendary protector, the White Dragon, starts “liberating” jewelry
stores of their wares, Narutaki suspects a criminal element. Then,
Machine Baron airlifts a massive megamaton into the city square and
leaves him there motionless for a month! What could his devious plan
entail?
It
looks like the boy detective’s hardest case may be a grudge match
against Ling-Ling… that is, until a famous horror author’s work
comes to life, murdering innocents at night! There’s no room for petty
fights when lives are on the line… Steam Detectives is ridding the
streets of crime, one case at a time!
Disc
3 of Steam Detectives brings more episodic crimes and strange
happenings. With this disc, the shows starts to finally develop a little
more character and show the viewer a few different looks. Let’s go.
Episode
11: Steam Fantasy As the new year approaches, the city prepares for the year of the dragon… and apparently so does a dragon as it has been robbing local jewelry stores. The only clues are that the attacks take place during foggy evenings, and that the dragon has |

been hitting the jewelry stores on the west side of town. Narutaki doesn’t believe in dragons, but Ling-Ling does and she wants Narutaki to help clear the name of the dragon protector (spiritual protector) of Steam City.
Episode
12: The Machine Baron’s Fatal Error The Machine Baron has unveiled his latest attempt to get Goriki and this time it involves a giant megamaton… except he dropped the control system for it on the way to the city |

center. The control system looks
exactly like a steam chamber… which is why Ling-Ling grabbed it for
her dieting while out on a jog. The megamaton remains dormant for a
month as the villain searches for the missing component. However, once
the Machine Baron found the component with Ling-Ling in it, Narutaki may
just have to hand over Goriki to get Ling-Ling back. A very funny
episode.
Episode
13: Narutaki vs. Ling-Ling: A Tiny Battle Narutaki
and Ling-Ling have an episode long fight over a bad cup of coffee that
Ling-Ling served. Making things worse, Narutaki got stuck
with the worst kind of case: finding a lost cat… can’t get much
lower than that. Unlike most episodes, this entire episode is comedic
and borrows style from Looney Tunes and situational comedies. A very
different episode.
Episode
14: Novel: “The Horrific King Steam” A
series of brutal murders have been taking place in Steam City by a
person named Steam King (a man wearing armor with steam ports on it).
Each of the murders have been identical to those from a series of horror
novels written by King Steam about his main character Steam King
(confused yet?). Narutaki helps the police with the investigation into
the murders while Ling-Ling gets cozy with the author. Narutaki is not
only in danger of losing his life, but his assistant…
Steam Detectives has started developing into an interesting show, now that it has shown more depth than previous episodes.
