Tenchi Universe: Tenchi on Earth II
Continuing with Tenchi’s desperate struggle to get through a day at his place without incurring the wrath of the small army of women from outer space, Volume Two of Tenchi Universe: Tenchi on Earth brings more hilarity for fans of the series to enjoy. This volume continues in giving viewers the chance to get to know the cast of the show as the three episodes give a better look at Washu, Kiyone, Mihoshi, and Ryoko, showing more of their demeanor and their pasts.

Officers" respectively, reunites Mihoshi with her Galaxy Police partner Kiyone, who was very much hoping that Mihoshi was dead so to actually get a competent partner. Unfortunately for her this isn’t the case, as she is sent to Earth to recover Mihoshi and shortly thereafter they are assigned as resident officers to the area and must find day jobs on Earth in order to make ends meet. Of course Mihoshi’s nature makes it so the two of them constantly have to look |

for new jobs, no thanks to her bungling. At the same time they still have to fulfill their Galaxy Police duties. Episode 7: No Need For A Carnival is the most lighthearted of the three episodes in this volume. Tenchi’s grandfather holds a carnival at the temple and all of the girls open booths at it (except Sasami, who goes to the carnival with Tenchi). Ryoko and Ayeka of course go to war with their booths, while Kiyone and Mihoshi setup a fried noodle booth, while Washu makes the evilest little haunted house you ever did see. Each of the episodes is exceptionally funny, with top-notch timing that constantly puts Tenchi and Kiyone in quite the predicaments. The chemistry cements itself between the characters, be it the arguments between Ayeka and Ryoko, which we’ve already seen, or the interaction between Kiyone and Mihoshi. As usual, don’t expect a hugely intricate story, it’s still fun little episodes. The animation is as good as ever with the usual amount of detail as one would expect from the series. The movement is smooth and fluid, with nice movement of the characters to help amplify the already energetic conversations. Music is also the same happy tunes found in the series. All in all the presentation of these episodes is very good. Tenchi Universe: Tenchi on Earth II continues the hilarity without missing a beat. The series just doesn’t show any signs of letting up.
