UFO Ultramaiden Valkyrie Preview (DVD)

Wiggles & Giggles & Catgirls – OH MY!

In the future, Earth is a very different place. Interplanetary travel and alien encounters are commonplace. In fact, maybe a bit too commonplace – considering that a mystical, otherworldly maiden named Valkyrie has crashed her spaceship into Kazuto Tokino’s bathhouse. As Kazuto tries to rebuild his business (and his life), things get crazier by the minute!

His bouncy, bubbly, and bare bathhouse clients just want to relax, but certain individuals from Valkyrie’s homeland of Valhalla want their beloved princess back – and they’ll do just about anything to get her home. Get ready for hilarious battle scenes, mishaps galore, and an army of oh-so-cute catgirls on the prowl! It’s the riveting first volume of UFO Ultramaiden Valkyrie!

Imagine if you will, a future where Earth has become such an advanced culture that all alien races wanted to spend time there – think the Mos Eisley Cantina, but with less violence and limbs being shredded. So, it’s now an actual destination for different races and as such, the princess of the planet Valhalla (Valkyrie, or Val for short) has an accident en route to Earth. Val is running from her home planet to escape a round of wedding meetings that she has no intention of going to. She crashes her spaceship into an authentic bathhouse and has injured the proprietor Kazuto. To save him from death, Val donates half of her soul to keep him alive… but the loss of energy reduces her from a gorgeous 20 year old to about an 8 year old. Except, Val can return to her normal body for short periods of time when “the hearts of the 2 are aligned”, which usually happens after a kiss. So for now, Val has decided that she really likes Kazuto and has chosen to live with him and his sister Rika (who is studying for college while he chooses to run the bathhouse).

Now seems as good a time as any to introduce the competition: Kazuto’s childhood friend is a Shinto priestess Akina, who has been harboring an intense crush for the affections of Kazuto but cannot bring herself to say the truth. Hydra, another Valhallan princess who has been forced into the wedding meetings due to the absence of Val – so she’s very focused on getting her back home. Sanada is the head-maid for Val, but she’s a little bit

overboard at times and decides to raise an army of catgirl maids for an expendable workforce. All of these individuals are more concerned with their own goals, no matter how crazy or absurd that they may be.

UFO Ultramaiden Valkyrie is a brightly animated series filled with cute characters and a slough of ecchi moments, it is a bathhouse you know. The characters for the most part are all rather intense and probably insane. From the three episodes available, it looks rather funny and I look forward to diving in.
