Ah! My Goddess Figurine (Urd)

In my travels through town I have usually make a point of swinging by the used CD stores, bookstores (which are more like libraries in my neck of the woods), and of course the collectibles stores. Recently I paid a visit to one of my regular collectibles shops which has a positively kick-ass selection of action figures. While there I made I stumbled across a neat little set of figurines based the Ah! My Goddess anime series. There was all three major characters: Belldandy, Urd, and Skuld, but they were going for about $30 each Canadian, so I had to give it a day or two of thought as to whether or not I should plunk down the dough. A couple of days later I returned but there was only one figure left, Urd. Undaunted I scooped it up and headed for home.

Now this here is a figurine so that means no poseability for me this time around, but that’s okay because it means the sculptors can go nuts with the detail. But wait a sec, this is a figure based on a cartoon character. As such don’t start expecting this figurine to be a Renoir or something, but it looks pretty darn good. No over painting to be seen, and good anime-like detail, there isn’t much to complain about in the appearance of this figure. The one major complaint

here that I have is that the little transparent plastic stick that is used to keep the figure upright on the stand keeps the figurine crooked, facing up at an odd angle. Unfortunately the plastic stick is too fragile to be bent so that it is more leveled.

The only major downside to this figurine is that it can be darn pricey since it is an import, which means that it gets hit by tariffs/duty/all of that expensive stuff that jacks up the price of a lot of stuff from overseas. But if you can get over the price you’ll have yourself a nice figure that a fan of the series would be proud to own.
