Witch Hunter Robin Volume 04:Fugitive (DVD)
After
the attack on Robin at her apartment, Michael, Dojima, and the others
convince her to stay at headquarters. They believe that she will be safe
there. They also start to believe that perhaps it is Amon who is after
her, as he hasn’t been seen since the night of the attack.
But
they are wrong. A brutal attack is staged on STNJ headquarters, and only
Robin escapes – and only because she had help.
After
the attack, the STNJ team tries its best, but with both Robin and Amon
missing, they are having a very tough time. Robin, meanwhile, has been
given a job as a messenger at a law firm. It’s a far cry from Hunting,
but still, she finds that she seems to be inescapably tied to witches.
Her new employer, Nagira, is also doing some investigating, and he has
found something which puts his life in jeopardy. Once again, Robin must
use her powers to protect the people around her. But are her powers
truly out of control?
Now that the main plot line of Witch Hunter Robin is coming to the forefront, the intensity of the story has been increasing at a decent rate. How will the attack on Robin affect her and the rest of the team? Or more importantly, how was Amon related to those events? Curiouser and curiouser.

Episode 15: Time to Say Goodbye Another plot heavy episode to start this disk off right! Robin is now staying at STNJ headquarters while the team looks to figure out who is behind the attack on Robin. Robin is now starting to relive all of the past conversations that she’s had over her tenure with the team – especially with the long-lived witch and the Inquisitor from the Church. Michael’s hacking talents lead to 3 potential witch hunters, but their information is classified |

and the team cannot progress… until the
Captain demonstrates the detective skills that got him there. Using
police contacts, he determines that two of the hunters haven’t been in
the country in the last three years, and the chief gets a lead on the
third. Dojima also rises to the occasion, running off after the lead and
discovering that the other hunter is deceased, but this leaves the team
with only one real lead: Amon.
Elsewhere,
Amon is visiting the hospital to check up on Touko; he doesn’t stay
long, but he does apologize to her and says that he is going to have to
go. En route to the hospital, the Commander receives a phone-call.
The
call is in regards to an up-coming attack on STNJ headquarters, he
expresses that he understands and asks for a delay on the attack. At the
hospital, the Commander laments that he was unable to protect his
daughter and apologizes to her. Back at STNJ headquarters, a group of
SWAT members disable the buildings’ security system and begin
neutralizing (shooting to disable, not kill) all of the STNJ members
until they come to Robin who is too scared to react to the sudden
attack. Robin is saved when the SWAT members are hit with a flash-bang
fired by Amon.
Robin
barely escapes and Amon isn’t so lucky.
Episode 16: Heal the Pain A
month has passed since the attack on the STNJ headquarters and the team
is still running at less than half strength without Robin and Amon.
Making things worse, Sakaki broke his leg during the attack and is laid
up while it heals. In the interim, Karasuma and Dojima are now the
primary hunters and investigators.
Robin
is now working as a bike messenger for a law firm. The firm is being run
by Nagira and agreed to help Robin as a favor for Amon. While completing
a run, she sees Dojima running away from 3 men – one of which is a
witch. The witch attacks Dojima aggressively, but before he can really
hurt or kill her, Robin jumps into the fray and protects her friend.
After sitting down with her, Robin learns the condition of the team and
asks about Amon, except Dojima doesn’t know anything. Robin then asks
Dojima to not tell everyone about her and leaves.
Back
at home, Robin meets with her boss Nagira who gives Robin some new
information: the SWAT team that attacked STNJ headquarters took an Orbo
gun and some information from the computer systems – except the
information should be encrypted by Michael.
Episode 17: Dilemma Karasuma
is working hard to tow the line for STNJ and as a result, she is trying
to do both her and Amon’s job. As a result, she is getting run down
and her powers have been waning. Dojima realizes that she and Karasuma
cannot keep this pace and aren’t as effective a team as they need to
be, so she suggests that they enlist Robin to help capture their problem
cases – namely the witch that they’re currently tailing.
Robin’s
current job takes her back to her last drop-off, this time she is going
to be baby-sitting a young girl for the day. While playing with the
girl, she notices that the girl is forming power-marks in the sand with
her mind. She realizes that her ward is a “seed” (a human with the
latent powers of a witch – they may not develop this generation).
Seeing Robin leave with the girl, Dojima chases after her on a Vespa;
when she catches up with her, she tries desperately to convince Robin to
join in on their more difficult hunts. Robin refuses, believing that
because she is a target, she could indirectly harm her friends. Dojima
slowly wears down Robin’s defenses and once the little girl’s ride
arrives, they take off after their target.
Episode 18: In My Pocket This episode starts with a witch being killed by another witch in the Walled City (the area where the team battled with the immortal witch). The team is discovering a high number of fatalities in the area over the past while – and all of the deaths have been of witches. Karasuma decides to spend some time in the Walled City getting a lay of the land and figuring out what is going on in the area.
Robin
is called out early for a job, a delivery in the area where she stayed
with Touko. Thinking about the letter that she received on the day that
she was attacked, she decides to pay a visit to her old apartment. In
the apartment, the letter is missing and Robin is haunted by her
memories of the attack and leaves quickly. Negima has become involved
with the happenings of the Walled City by speaking with an information
broker. It appears that all of the killings in the area are over an
object called the “Splinter of Knowledge” that was apparently left
by the immortal witch when she died. Negima continues to press the
broker to find more information, and he discovers that one of the power
players is “The Professor”, an especially powerful witch who
doesn’t make too many foolish moves.
The
next morning, Robin finds Negima missing and decides that she had better
help find him. Not knowing how to do that, she heads to STNJ
headquarters and speaks with Michael from the secret passage. Using his
hacking skills, he is able to pinpoint Negima from his cell-phone. In
the interim, Negima has fallen prey to the Professor who has been
interrogating him for information about the Splinter.
Robin
arrives to help her friend, but once the Professor realizes that he
cannot hurt Robin, he turns to attack Negima. Seeing her friend in
danger she attack the Profesor, but he is completely engulfed in the
flames and instantly killed.
So far so good. Witch Hunter Robin has been downright addictive, and I’m barely able to contain my excitement as each volume is being released… it’s pathetic really.
