Write
for the Empire
We’re
looking to add quite a few faces to our roster of writers as the
Armchair Empire continues to grow to monolithic proportions.
If you are a talented writer who can articulate the good, the
bad, and the ugly of gaming in an intelligent and entertaining manner we
want to hear from you. We don’t have set roles like reviewers, previews, and so
forth; you’ll be doing a bit of everything allowing for a lot more
writing styles to sink your teeth into.
The key to writing for us is first and foremost to have a love of
writing, even more so than your love for gaming.
Be it writing poetry or prose, having that thirst to put pen to
paper or fingertips to keyboard is essential.
With our staff’s average age clocking in at about 27 years old
we do lean towards older gamers who have been playing games since before
the NES, but don’t be afraid to apply if you’re a college student.
If we think you have talent we’ll give you a shot. To
apply, send us a couple of sample articles so we can get an idea of your
style and writing abilities as well as an opening letter telling us a
bit about yourself and your gaming history.
Please note that writing for the Armchair Empire is NON-PAYING.
We’re an independent site pinching pennies to pay the server
bills, so paying writers is out of the question.
However, you will be able to keep review copies of games for your
collection unless the game is a loaner from the publisher. We
are looking for writers with in-depth knowledge of the following fields
in particular. If you fall
into either of them so much the better. Feature Writers X 2 Generalist Writers X 2 Due to regional lockouts on consoles, overseas shipping costs, and time constraints, we are looking for writers who are based in Canada or the continental United States. Now, before sending us an email stating you would like to write for AE please, PLEASE, PLEASE go over this check list: - Does your email/opening letter consist of more than "I've played games all my life! Let me write for you!" or "I hav Ps2!!! Let me write"? Applicants who can't be bothered to approach us with proper professionalism WILL be ignored. - Be sure to include at least 2 sample articles so we can get an idea of your writing style. - Tell us which platforms you have and what your particular genres of interest are. - Tell us what your geographic location is (City and Country) - Tell us how many articles you are prepared to write per month. If you think you have what it takes to write for us get cracking and send us an email. Address all applications to our Editor-in-Chief, Mr. Nash (mrnash@armchairempire.com). So get hopping and drop us a line to write for the Armchair Empire.
