Aaron "Omni" Simmer President and Co-Founder
In 1977, Aaron Simmer was born and quickly became a game addict. The games were simple at the beginning, such as Sleep Deprivation, whereby he would scream all hours of the night, keeping his parents in a semi-comatose state for the better part of four months, and Strategic Release, in which he would choose the most inconvenient moment to pee on whomever was changing his diaper. Besides playing every sport available to him, he also began his reign as Supreme Colecovision Champion. It was about this time, at age seven, that Aaron found his writing talent with, the now classic one-shot comic book, Fat Man vs. The Pizza Guy. His creativity brought his writing from average to pretty good, improvising answers on tests to get laughs when the obvious answer was not known.
Highschool saw Aaron receive some prominence, establishing the school newspaper, The Propaganda Machine, and winning the coveted Writing Award. His writing proliferated during this period, seeing the completion of dozens of short stories, one novel-length work, a screenplay, and many editorials and essays that some labeled as bordering on genius and/or madness. He continued playing computer and console games when time allowed and was witness to the huge evolutionary steps made by electronic media. It was during this time that he met up with Jeff Nash.
University nearly squelched Aaron’s independent thought with too many arrogant professors espousing how he should think. Fortunately, his last year saw Aaron take a more relaxed view, scoffing openly at professors while completing another novel-length work and a rough outline and sketches for a videogame. Upon earning his BA in English, Aaron did some freelance writing then started work on his videogame idea. The project was abandoned as things got too complex and Aaron realized he’d have to learn some programming skills. The Armchair Empire was hit upon soon after, and he threw his energy behind the project with the idea he would be able to combine his love for gaming and writing into one endeavor. |
