Call of DutyWith the success of the “game of the year” instant classic Medal Of Honor: Allied Assault, members of the same team that helped develop the game, have broken off to form their own company (Infinity Ward), to try and create an even more nauseating, action packed, fast-paced WWII shooter. |

Call of Duty (COD) will feature everything enjoyed from MoH: AA, but with greater range in almost all aspects. One of the most talked about features will be the use of AI squad members fighting alongside of you. The squad AI was a problem that plagued MoH: AA, sometimes making the action frustrating. Trying not to stumble twice, the new team is designing remarkably smart AI that instead of fighting next to you, squad mates will fight accordingly with you. Among shooting and covering your every move, your fellow squad mates will drag dead bodies away from the line of fire, shoot while being |

protected behind a brick wall, and use trenches and other surrounding objects the way you would. In short, Call of Duty is going to create the smartest AI that will not frustrate you in the heat of battle, like so many others have. Tie those aspects in with excellent gameplay and an award winning crew, and you have what could be the best WWII experience found in any other game. Since
the game will attempt to cover all the views of WWII, the game will be
played through the eyes of different countries. Some will have you
playing as a US paratrooper, British commando, or a Russian soldier. All
three campaigns will be stretched over some memorable battles, like the
ones seen in the Russian war movie Enemy
at the Gates. Another film inspiring the creation of COD was the
popular HBO miniseries program Band
of Brothers. If you haven’t seen Band
of Brothers, the entire film was about using teamwork and one
another to survive through the war. The team used both movies as an
influence, making the primary purpose of the game to use teamwork. There should be no doubt in anyone’s mind that this game will deliver on its promise, for the team has pulled off a task like this before with a little game call Medal of Honor. Call of Duty is scheduled to be released in late October, making this holiday season filled with great games. Eric "element" Lahiji June 28, 2003 |
