Everquest
II: Rise of Kunark
Since
its release, Everquest II has really been picking up steam with each
update that the game has received.
While some can’t look past the /pizza moments of the MMO’s
early days, the expansion packs that have come out for the game have
gone a long way in fleshing out the game world, characters, and
gameplay. Now Sony Online
Entertainment (SOE) has recently announced the fourth expansion due out
for Everquest II with Rise of Kunark.
With this update, SOE is looking to strike a balance between nostalgia and totally fresh content. Obviously a return to the jungle-strewn continent of Kunark will tug at the heartstrings of many long-time Everquest fans. Here players will discover that the Iskar are returning to prominence, and, with a little investigation, the ruins of many popular haunts from Everquest are waiting to be rediscovered.

Of course, an expansion pack also opens the door for new content, and SOE has quite a bit planned for Rise of Kunark. First, players will have a new race to choose from: the Sunark. These are a magically altered group of humanoid dragons that inhabit the new starting area of Timorous Deep (other zones include the Skyfire Mountains and the Emerald Jungle). In |

terms
of quests, players should expect a decent mix that will accommodate both
low-level characters, as well as high levels.
Also of note is that the level cap will be raised to level 80
with this expansion.
Players can also expect a healthy number of new weapons, armor, items, and so forth to come with the expansion. On top of this, there will also be a new mount, the Kunarkian Rhinoceros. Finally, there will also be a variety of new deities to pledge allegiance to in Rise of Kunark, each providing their own blessings, and miracles to their followers.
As the company has previously mentioned, they want to stick to a fairly rigid annual release schedule for their Everquest II expansions, so expect Rise of Kunark to hit stores some time this November, just as the last expansion also saw a November release last year.
