I
of the Dragon
Games
focusing on Dragons have been far and few between, but the ones that
have come along in recent years have really set the bar high in what
gamers expect from future titles that use the legendary wyrms.
Now Strategy First is stepping up with their entry into the
dragon-related-gaming arena with I of the Dragon for the PC.
Players will control their choice of three dragons in the game as they try to save the world of Nimoan. For centuries in that world, people enjoyed a peaceful lifestyle devoid of war. Then slowly omens started to show themselves, hinting of an approaching threat. Unfortunately |
|
|
everyone ignored the omens until it was too late and huge armies of
monsters would soon be bearing down on them.
In comes our dragon hero, upon whose shoulders falls the
responsibility of sending the beasts back to wherever they came from.
Doing
this will take the form of an action-RPG as players have to develop
their dragon from a somewhat scrawny thing to a powerful, imposing
creature. Traversing 20
missions, I of the Dragon will have players engaging over 40 different
enemy types, as well as taking part in some more tranquil
activities like city building.

With
top-notch dragon-oriented titles like Drakan and Panzer Dragoon setting
the standards by which other dragon-esque games will be judged, I of the
Dragon has some serious competition.
On top of this, Square-Enix is releasing their own dragon
riding title on the PS2 in March, so a true battle royale could be in
the cards as consumers vote with their wallets as to what they think the
best game with a dragon in it is this Spring. -
