Neuro

Isn’t intergalactic politics a bitch?  Early settlers will soar off to the stars, find a nice little planet to call home, and a few centuries later the place is turned into a booming metropolis.  Of course, if this colony ever decides it would like independence from Earth, the planet is faced with a hissy fit, as such a notion is completely out of the question.  Before long someone decides to take matters into their own hands, starts a ruckus, and the whole region is plunged into civil war.  While not a paint by numbers recreation of this scenario, Neuro, a FPS in the works at Revolt Games for the PC, taps into this popular theme.

Taking place on the planet Sorgo, characters will take on the role of one Craig Richards, a soldier serving the Earth Federation, as he deals with an ongoing revolution in the region.  However, instead of being a conventional FPS requiring players to simply run and gun

through the levels, in Neuro players will also have psionic abilities that allow them to control other characters in the game.  With this, one can theoretically take control of a guard, or a regular Joe, or whomever, and have them do their bidding as a means of getting through a particular mission.

There’ll still be plenty of guns and other weapons associated with the genre in the game, but overall, what will make this Neuro stand out is its psionic components.  Usually when developers talk about bringing changes to FPSes, it just winds up being something to do with

physics, or visuals, or some fancy new guns, never anything to far off the beaten path.  With Revolt Games trying something entirely different by bringing mind control into the fold, hopefully it will be put together well enough to not feel like a gimmick, and bring some fresh ideas to the genre.
