RollerCoaster
Tycoon 3
I’m
not afraid to admit that I don’t like rollercoasters. More terrorized
by them really - ever since a frightening experience 22 years ago on
Space Mountain at Disney World. Won’t step a foot on them still to
this day. The upcoming RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 (RC3) offers
rollercoaster
cowards like me to perfect way to enjoy the thrills of the coaster
without the fear factor.
RC3 is a building simulation much like Will Wright’s SimCity (and
other related Sim titles), but without a lot of the complex
micromanagement. That isn’t to say that RC3 won’t be deep or
challenging, but rollercoasters are supposed to be fun (although
you’ll never convince me of that!) and RC3 loads up the entertainment
of an amusement park without worrying about the minutia
involved with running one.

Here’s the official game info from Atari:
Fantasy - Build it, Ride it, Live it!: Create and experience the
ultimate amusement park. All new gorgeous 3D graphics and a new Coaster
Cam feature lets you ride the rides and experience the park in exquisite
detail never before seen.
High-level Concept: Atari and Frontier Developments, Ltd., in
collaboration with Chris Sawyer, the creator of the first two
RollerCoaster Tycoon games, present an all new, completely redesigned
RollerCoaster Tycoon game that lets you experience the park like never
before. Ride the coasters you design, customize the guests, walk around
your 3D park, and become the ultimate RollerCoaster Tycoon.
Features:
Stunning 3D Graphics: Amazing detail truly brings the park to life in
full 3D. Complete control over the 3D camera views let you view the park
from the sky or experience the action at ground level.
Ride the Rides!: Feel the rush of riding the coasters that you design
from the front seat –it may even turn your stomach. New Coaster Cam
feature gives you a 360° view allowing you to see the guests riding
behind you or view your park from the coaster.
Enhanced park guests: Diverse characters are brought to life with
changing facial expressions and hundreds of animations including
running, jumping, dancing, and, of course, blowing chunks.
Nighttime: Realistic day and night cycles include day, night, dawn,
dusk, moon, and stars. Ride lights, coaster lights and path lights allow
you to create the ultimate night time amusement park experience.
Fireworks!: A new Firework MixMaster and firework show editor lets you
light up the sky by creating pyrotechnic masterpieces and setting them
to the music of your choice.
Music: Customize the music in your park by attaching your own MP3 or
.wav files to your rides and firework shows! Place speakers around your
park to play songs or sound effects and immerse your guests with a
themed soundscape.
Sandbox Mode: Now you can build your dream park without worrying about
the financial aspect of the game.
Interface: An improved interface makes creating and building your park
easier than ever.
The
RollerCoaster Tycoon franchise, with seven million total games sold,
already has a proven track record of providing PC wannabe coaster
builders an opportunity to design their dream amusement park rides. RC3
will continue in that tradition, offering an even more complete set of
building tools, along with associated sound and visual features, usually
is only seen in a SimCity title. If coaster building’s your idea of
fun, RC3’s primed to deliver the most detailed rollercoaster-building
PC game ever later this fall.
