FireFighter F.D. 18

Ever wanted to be a hero? Braving intense heat and dangerous fires to rescue endangered people. Maybe relive similar scenes like those that occurred in the movie Backdraft. Firefighting is a respected profession and the thousands of people that put their lives on the line to help others deserve our respect. If you ever wanted to experience the excitement of a fire without the danger of being a real firefighter (and without becoming an arsonist), this is the game for you. Konami puts you in that role in their latest release Firefighter F.D. 18.

Firefighter F.D. 18 isn't mission oriented but rather contains a story. A random eruption of fires in a sprawling metropolis leaves people searching for answers. Two of those people are

firefighter Dean McGregor and news reporter Emilie Arquette. Their search for the arsonist brings them closer together while putting their lives in great danger.

Features:

- Includes realistic simulations of fire, including backdrafts, flashovers and chemical explosions.

- Step into the shoes of everyday hero McGregor and use your skills to face the raging flames and rescue those in danger.

- High tech equipment - such as water hoses and an impulse firefighting gun - will help players extinguish the rampant flames.

- As a firefighter, break down doors with axes, use high-powered fire hoses to smother flames, and avoid collapsing floors while looking for trapped civilians.

- Captures all the realism and experiences of real life firefighters.

- The most realistic firefighting experience ever in a video game.

- A rich story that revolves around the themes of love and justice.

For fans of firefighting, this game is a gem that you cannot pass up. In fact the last game I can remember that revolved around fighting fires was Rosco McQueen: Firefighter Extreme (released in 1998). It was unrealistic and childlike unlike Firefighter F.D. 18 This is an innovate approach from Konami, that I hope succeeds. Firefighter F.D. 18 is slated for a February release.
