God of War II
It’s a sad sight to see when a console stops seeing the great exclusives it once had brought over to the next generation and seeing last generations console slowly die. When the Xbox 360 launched, Microsoft had signaled the end of the Xbox console, as many of Microsoft’s developers have already made the jump. There are also many signs from the Nintendo camp that many of their major games have also made the transition with the exception of Twilight Princess. So, as Sony prepares to release their next console, there is obviously a lot of speculation about whether or not they will continue to support the Playstation 2. One highly anticipated game that is staying on the Playstation 2 is God of War II, a sequel to the action-packed epic starring everyone’s favorite Spartan, Kratos.

God of War II starts off where the original leaves off, with Kratos sitting on his throne as he watches over the world. However, Kratos was a ruthless god, even worse than Ares, killing all who crossed his path and that of Sparta. However, the “Ghost of Sparta” is on a quest to change something no mortal or god ever did, |

his fate. Kratos’ search will take him to the ends of the earths, and fight monsters from his previous life along with creatures he has yet to encounter that will try to prevent him from achieving his goal. However, this is a man whose name causes all men to tremble at just the mention of it. This is Kratos, who stopped at nothing to make Ares pay for the loss of his family. He is the God of War, is there any man, monster or god that can actually stop him?
When
SCEA began developing the sequel, they knew two things needed to happen:
1) They needed to make the game longer and 2) They needed to enhance the
already stellar gameplay and take it to a new level. However, this time
around, David Jaffe decided to take on a lesser role in the game’s
creation, giving the job to Cory Barlog, lead animator for the original.
Players will find all their favorite combos returning from the original
game, as well as new weapons, moves, and a new forms of magic, which
utilizes the power of the elements. Fans will also be delighted to know
that the game retains many of the popular monsters from the original,
such as the Cyclops, and will also add some more of the famous mythical
beasts, as well as more enemies and bosses. God of War II will also
include more puzzles that are challenging, yet intricately
woven into the overall story. Players will continue to explore the dark,
violent world of Greek mythological, as they traverse the brutal
terrains that range from the undiscovered Sisters of Fate to the depths
of the Dark Swamp. God of War II benefits from not only appealing to fans of the action genre, but also catches the eyes of Greek mythology buffs. In addition, the game will gain added attention as one of the few big Sony titles not to jump to the next generation. Most recent rumors speculate that God of War II will release in February 2007, however there will more concrete information as the game moves closer to its anticipated release.
