Gregory Horror Show

When I first heard the name of this game images of the Rocky Horror Picture Show flooded my mind.  But don’t expect a game chalk full of drag queens, transvestites, or a lot of latex/leather, as this upcoming puzzle adventure from Capcom has nothing to do with the classic movie.  In fact, Gregory Horror Show is based on an award-winning Japanese cartoon.

 

The game’s star is a mouse with a block shaped head named Gregory who runs a hotel called Gregory House, a creepy inn with a surreal dreamlike motif to it.  But players are cast as themselves in the game, as they enter the hotel only to discover that they are trapped inside.  Luckily Death comes up and makes you a deal: bring him the souls of the guests of the hotel and he’ll show you the way out.  Each guest has their own idiosyncrasies that the player must learn and adapt to in order to successfully snatch their souls.  But once you have it you better high tail it out of there because the guest will make chase and

unleash a special attack that drains players’ mentality points.  The less of these that you have the more insane you become.  As such players must run and hide from the guests, alluding them before taking their soles to death.

Features:

·    - Variety of unique characters – Character design by Naomi Iwata, who won second place for animated television series in the Vancouver Effects and Animation Festival (VEAF).  Received “special award” at the Annecy 2001 International Animated film festival for an animated television series.

·    - Gathering souls – Players have the ability to gather souls from various guests by solving puzzles and through other actions.

·    - Unlimited amount of plot developments and story twists based on the time and location.

·    - Handy” item – The hand item can be used all over the hotel and in various ways such as opening doors, stealing souls and even confusing guests coming to attack you.
