This article shall be written with the utmost effort to avoid phrases riddled with innuendo, but no promises shall be made.  Back in January of this year Konami had its gamer’s day, essentially a decent sized press conference for game magazine editors to come to and get an advance heads-up on what the publisher has in the works.  One of the games presented was Rumble Roses for the Playstation 2, a two-player wrestling game featuring busty, scantily clad fem fatales a la Dead or Alive.  Ask anyone what the game was about shortly thereafter and the response would likely have been that it was some sort of game where half naked women beat each other up, emphasis on the "half naked women", vague recollection on the

"beat each other up".  Now firm information is starting to flow regarding what players actually do in the game.  While there certainly appears to be some of the standard gameplay features of a wrestling title, there are still quite a few entries that Konami hopes players find quite titillating, such as busty, scantily-clad women mud wrestling.

Key Features:

- Realistic wrestling action featuring the sexiest women ever to take the ring

- Delivering realistic mud matches, players will see mud sliding off these sexy wrestlers after each take down in the mud pit

- In-game movies created by CG movie specialists, Polygon Magic’s VSL Team

- Sexy costumes that reflect the personality and unique style of each wrestler

- Highly interactive crowds that respond with wild cheering or strong booing when appropriate

- Multiple playable characters in several game modes including Story Mode

- Humiliation system – disgrace or humiliate your opponent to gain power-ups and temporary invincibility

- Theatrical stage performances complete with fireworks, dancing and grand entrances

The biggest challenge Rumble Roses faces is just to be taken seriously.  While the Dead or Alive series has become synonymous with sexuality, it has still consistently proven to be a solid fighting game as well.  Managing to be a top-notch wrestling title will have to be Konami’s goal with Rumble Roses if they want it to be well received.  T&A in and of itself just isn’t enough for any game to do well, just look at BMX XXX and how well that title’s in-your-face sexuality did.
