With
the original PlayStation, there really wasn’t a lot going on in the
system library as far as first party platformers were concerned. However, with the PS2, this is certainly not the case, as
there's the Jak series, Ratchet and Clank, and Sly Cooper. That being said, Sly is back, sneaking around, and doing his
thief-like things in Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves.
At
the start of the game, Sly has finally tracked down where the Cooper
family fortune is; however, there is another group in the house that
contains these riches, requiring Sly to enlist the help of his friends
so to get the treasure, and get passed these guys.Bentley is the first to come on board, followed by Murray,
who has temporarily left the group of thieves, feeling responsible for
Bentley being confined to a wheelchair after the events of Sly 2.As Sly rounds up the troops, he’ll begin his journey to reclaim
his family fortune.
While
this is happening, there will be a number of gameplay options for
players to sink their teeth into in Sly 3.Firstly, players will be able to return to previously completed
levels where they can use new equipment that they have acquired in later
levels.With this they will
be able to get a better score as they try to become a master thief. One area that fans of the series will likely be particularly
interested in is the planned split-screen multiplayer options in Sly
3.These will range from head-to-head competitions, to cooperative
play, to mini-games.

As
it stands, it looks like the Sly Cooper series has officially
kicked into
“Annual Sequel Mode” as once again this latest edition in the
franchise is slated for a fourth quarter release.Compared to its other Sony platformer contemporaries, Sly has
tended to be the sleeper of the bunch.Perhaps with the new gameplay options slated for Sly 3 it will
step forward from the pack.
