Rumble
Roses XX
*
*
working title
Most
of what is officially known about Rumble Roses XX could fit into
a thimble. It's safe to say that the grappling girls are back -- scantily
clad and ready to rumble -- even if the PS2 original was greeted with a
lot of critical drubbing for it's lack of modes and the purely-for-titillation
mud wrestling mode.
Konami
hasn't released a lot of information -- but the screenshots keep coming
-- but it's been confirmed that Rumble Roses XX will feature tag
team matches. I'd like to see Konami take the matches one step
further with battle royales -- four players battling each other has a
certain allure to it. Though some aspects of the online play over
Xbox Live have been explained -- four player matches have been confirmed
-- some are still up in the air but you can bet that online rankings
will be included and some sort of downloadable content will be made
available through Xbox Live Marketplace (like maybe, new
costumes?). If Konami does provide complete play over Live they'll
have to make sure it's a "reliable" experience -- meaning, lag
is minimal and framerates stay kicking.
Rumble
Roses XX will also showcase a "fighting mode" along the
lines of Konami's respected Tekken series. Supposedly acting as a
tutorial it looks to feature the same level of graphical detail as the
"main" game.
Each
character reportedly uses 50,000 polygons. (Unconfirmed rumors
report that 75% are allotted for the mammaries.) This affords a
high level of detail for each character and their many alluring
costumes. Does this apply to the new animal fighter?
Obviously on loan from the Tekken series, Panda makes an appearance in Rumble
Roses XX. There are to be 20 fighters included -- hopefully 20
unique fighters rather than the 10

fighters
with a couple of "personas" for each that were included with
the original Rumble Roses. It's been "promised" that
each character will have her own unique grappling and power moves. (Team
combos... it remains to be seen.)
What
else can be said about Rumble Roses XX? Only this, lets hope
Konami can deliver a stunning wrestling game. There's no
doubt that Rumble Roses XX is shaping up to be a flashy,
good-looking game but the original leaned toward the looks and dumbed down
the actual wrestling to allow the action to be more accessible for the
casual gamer. (The dumping of the mud wrestling mode is a step in the
right direction.) With more modes than the original and a solid
implementation of the tag team aspects, Rumble Roses XX has the
potential to be more than just a pretty face.
