Guilty Gear Dust Strikers

The Guilty Gear franchise is exceptional for a few reasons... all of which elude me at the moment,,,wait,,,Ohhh Yeahhhh!!! now I remember -- it's the greatest 2D fighter series of all time!!!

Anywho, Guilty Gear Dust Strikers is on the horizon as the first in the series to make its way to the recently redesigned Nintendo DS (so sexy). And boy has Aquarius, a.k.a. Arc System Works (developers of the greatest 2D fighter series of all time) pulled out the conceptual stops for this puppy. Arc will be following the lead of many developers who have chosen to play along with Nintendo's mad gambit of incorporating the dual screen functionality into the gameplay of original titles (a clever ploy by Nintendo to force the development of "original titles", hence a separate and altogether different Guilty Gear release on the PSP).

The dual screen will be utilized in Dust Strikers to extend the fighting area vertically. Instead of squabblin' it out across a single horizontal plane, you'll have up to five vertical levels to fight on across the two screens. Proving that the Arc lads have upped their adirol doses is the fact that up to four players can brawl it out simultaneously via the DS's wi-fi capabilities. Four rainbow haired fish toting paperbag- headed weirdos slapping each other at hyper kinetic speeds in a multiple level death match is exactly the image my dreams conjured up when considering the potential uses of the dual screened DS back when it was announced.

Dust Strikers will feature all 21 characters from the fabled series and will feature a few unique mini-games to spice it all up. The mini-games will all incorporate the touch screen in clever ways it seems. And with names like May's Dolphin Show, Venom's Billiards, and Yo-Yo Polish, one can only speculate on the perverse rubbings we'll be giving our DS's when Guilty Gear Dust Strikers drops this Spring.
