Teenage Zombies: Invasion of the Alien Brain Thingys

It's easy to like a game with a title like Teenage Zombies: Invasion of the Alien Brain Thingys, developed by InLight Entertainment and published by Ignition. The premise is that some wacky alien brains have come to Earth to brainwash the masses. They essentially succeed, except their powerful rays have little affect on

zombies. Just their luck, they accidentally awaken a trio of teenage undead, who end up becoming humanity's last hope. Tons of games have players shooting zombies, but this is one of the few where you actually play as them. And everyone knows that zombies are after one thing - brains. To our anti-heroic trio, the

The game is a side scrolling action platformer, allowing you to take control of each of the three zombies, each with their own unique characteristics. Lefty is a lanky ex-basketball player with one arm, who can extend her single limb to attack enemies across the screen or attach random objects to her other arm socket to use as weapons. Half-Pipe is a legless skateborders who can cruise through the stages with ease, and attach various goodies like water skis and rocket boosts to soup up his ride. Fins has tentacles (!!) on his back, allowing him to grapple onto certain terrain. Being a bit on the portly side, he also has a huge appetite, and can gobble up various items then activate a powerful puking attack. You can switch between any of these three characters at any time. The developers promise lots of puzzles, which could potentially lead to some Lost Vikings-style character interaction. There are also the usual number of stylus-based mini-games.

The tongue-in-cheek plot and comic book-like presentation bring a lot of unique personality to Teenage Zombies, which should make it worth checking it when it's published in mid-April.
