Delta Force: Black Hawk Down
In December of 1992 the United States military launched Operation Restore Hope in an effort to quell the growing famine and instability in the horn of Africa (Somalia). While the military operation was originally planned to get food to the starving population it soon turned into a military operation against a Somali Warlord who was disturbing the aid work. These events were depicted in the epic war movie, Black Hawk Down and Mark Bowden’s best selling book of the same name. Novalogic originally released the first person shooter Delta Force: Black Hawk Down for the PC and now it’s coming to the Xbox and PS2. It’s important to note that the game is not based on the movie or book. So those who were hoping to play there favorite character in the movie, will be disappointed. Instead, the game is focused around the events that inspired the movie: the full ten months that US forces spent in Somalia. The PS2 version and the Xbox version will be completely different from one another. The Xbox version will be a straight port of the PC version, while the PS2 version is being re-built from the ground up. Both games will feature a completely different campaign mode, although both versions of the game will support online play. One interesting point to note is Novalogic’s ambitious plans for the online play. Recently Novalogic announced that the Xbox version will support up to 50 players online at once, while the PS2 version will support up to 32 players online. Not much else has been revealed about the differences between both games. Oddly enough on Novalogic’s website the key features for the PS2 version of the game, are the exact same as the Xbox version, so we apologize for not having the features of the PS2 version available. |
