Combat Wings

Before you think “Oh no, another World War II game!”, take a deep breath. Think back to 2003 or 2004 and remember “Crimson Skies” for the original Xbox. Now, think updated graphics and gameplay and that might set you in the mood for what

to expect from Combat Wings.

This game is completely focused on air combat and it can be very intense. The single player campaign presents you with 13 missions in four categories and you will always play on the allied side (you can play as a German pilot in the multiplayer if you wish).

Some players experience

disorientation with plane flying games so there is a mode that will help you track and stay locked on an enemy, reducing the amount of motion sickness inducing moves you might otherwise make. It also helps that the skies in this game look absolutely beautiful.

It’s still a bit too early to tell how polished this game will end up, and the scope and depth of the gameplay. However, it does offer 60 planes in multiplayer and will retail for $39 ($29 on the Wii) so it sounds like it could be a worthwhile adventure when it takes flight in September 2011.
