Commandos Strike Force

Up to this point, the Commandos series has had its feet planted squarely in the world of isometric perspectives, as players told their men what to do, watching what was happening from overhead. Now, the franchise is taking a turn, as it embraces the world of first person shooters with a tactical twist, all neatly tucked into Eidos latest Commandos offering, Commandos Strike Force.

Once again taking place during World War II, the game will have three different types of soldiers for players to choose from, each with his own unique specialty where one is a spy who specializes in infiltration, another who is a Sniper that slips in, takes a shot, and gets moving again, and finally the action-oriented green beret. Continuing with this trend of threes, the game will also have three distinct campaigns that span France, Norway, and Russia.

In terms of the arsenal found in Strike Force, players can expect a fairly liberal amount of weapons true to what was available during WWII, both from the allies and the axis, as well as vehicles, and non-firearms like knives and bombs. Hopefully this mix of weaponry will also translate well into the game’s planned multiplayer mode, which is slated to support up to eight players.

With Strike Force marking the Commandos series about face from its third person perspective roots, it’ll be interesting to see how many of the franchise’s long time fans embrace this. Also, it

remains to be seen if Strike Force will be a one shot deal, or turn into a spinoff for Commandos.
