Deus Ex: Invisible War
There is sure to be lots of speculation of what Deus Ex: Invisible War is really all about and what surprises may lurk beneath the surface. (Anyone who has read David Ickes' The Biggest Secret is sure to be in their element.) It's with a bit of skepticism and paranoia that we present the "facts":
Storyline: Approximately
20 years after the events depicted in Deus Ex, the world is only
beginning to recover from catastrophic worldwide depression. In the
chaotic period of recovery, political and religious factions see an
opportunity to reshape the world to their own agendas, understanding
that the right moves now could determine the shape of human society for
decades – even centuries – to come. In
the role of Alex D, an experimental clone of JC Denton, you will uncover
the figures and schemes behind the macro-power struggles whilst you seek
your brother in search of your own origins and purpose. Set
50 years in the future, the storyline is driven by relevant subject
matter of current events such nano-technology, terrorist violence and
living paranoid in the present day world. Key
Features:
Sequel to mega-award winning game Deus Ex. Open Ended User Experience - the most advanced non-linear freedom in a video game to date. The game molds to the players method of solution solving – violence, stealth, puzzle-solving. Action-packed
first-person adventure with shooter gameplay elements.
Benchmark Setting Graphics - a new benchmark in graphics quality for a video game, this game delivers the most realistic atmosphere and environments to date. State-of-the-art physics system, allowing for unprecedented interaction with objects in the world. Intense stealth gameplay, where darkness and sound affect enemy awareness. Artificial
Intelligence - with an uncannily intuitive AI system, characters have a
real awareness of the world that they populate and guard. 5.1 Dolby(tm) stereo surround system. You are Alex Denton, clone of the J.C.Denton, biotech enhanced super agent protagonist from the original game.
Use tools and bio-modifications to achieve your objectives with interesting effect - see through walls, leap 40 ft in the air, regenerate critical body damage, render yourself radar invisible.
I think the key thing to remember here is that gamer will be playing as Alex Denton, an "experimental clone of JC Denton." Zero in on the word, "experimental." Things tagged as experimental have a tendency to backfire or go haywire.

Deus Ex fans should be glad that many of the aspects that made the original so playable reappear, especially the open-ended gameplay and the character customization. The graphical update is a given.
It's anyone's guess as to how the story will play out. Specific details are few and far between. It will be interesting to see how it incorporates "relevant subject matter of current events." There are a million and one theories as to why America and Britain are so gung-ho to head into Iraq and what will happen to the UN Security Council if such a unilateral attack is launched. |

Obviously, if one is up on current events and have a general knowledge of conspiracy theories and David Ickes' writings, they'll take more away from the experience than those that don't have that knowledge.
Watch for Deus Ex: Invisible War on PC and Xbox this Summer.
