The Haunted
Mansion
I
must be honest. The first time I heard the name of this game I thought
it would be a Resident Evil or Silent Hill style game. To be even more
honest I had no clue that this game was modeled after a Disney movie
starring Eddie Murphy. The game to no surprise takes place in a haunted
mansion in which you are sought after to solve puzzles, find clues, and
defeat evil wherever it may lurk, all done in a cartoon sensibility.
The
storyline is based around a workaholic father who is played by Eddie
Murphy who decides to force his family to come to a haunted mansion. He
plans on building a lavish condo, but soon runs into trouble as he soon
learns him and his family aren’t the only occupants of the mansion.
Eddie Murphy’s character must do his best to keep the ghosts at rest.
The
game at this stage looks to be aimed at a younger audience, but the
developers are hoping to get some adults playing this game as well. The
game does promise easy to learn gameplay and, fast, fun and exciting
gameplay for all ages.
The
only thing that worries me is the lack of success developers have had
from using a movie license to make a game. The results have been mostly
negative. A few games include Minority Report, The Sum of All Fears, and
Men in Black. Hopefully TDK Mediactive won’t let this trend continue.

Movie Description
Eddie
Murphy leads an all-scare cast of ghosts and ghouls in the spookiest
comedy ever, “The Haunted Mansion.” Workaholic real-estate
agent Jim Evers (Murphy) drags his family up to the big, creepy Gracey
mansion in hopes of rebuilding it into a lavish new condo development.
When they get there, however, the family quickly finds that they’re
not alone… not when 999 grim, grinning ghosts come out to socialize!
With all these happy haunts that won’t leave until their unfinished
business has been completed, it’s up to Jim to break the curse - and
rediscover a family that needs him - before the clock strikes 13.
Directed by Rob Minkoff (“The Lion King,” “Stuart Little”) and
featuring special effects and make-up design by Academy Award-winner
Rick Baker, sets by Oscar-nominated production designer John Myhre
(“Elizabeth,” “X-Men,” “Chicago”), “The Haunted Mansion”
scares up the laughs.
