MX Unleashed!

After making a big splash with their two SeaDoo racing titles, Splashdown and the brand-new Splashdown Rides Gone Wild, Rainbow Studios returns to the motocross racing gaming scene they helped to enhance with their two Motocross Madness efforts. Coming early next year to the Xbox and PlayStation 2 from Rainbow Studios and THQ is MX Unleashed!, a realistic motocross racing simulation that lets you experience life as a driver on the motocross racing circuit.

MX Unleashed! has plenty of tracks and modes to get your motor running full throttle. There are 40 tracks and a loaded career mode that should give gamers a great feel of what it takes to be a motocross champion. For a change of pace from the simulation racing, MX Unleashed! features a freestyle mode with fun mini-games such as racing against a speeding train. The physics engine is promising a completely realistic feel with clutch control. Although the game has been announced only for the Xbox and PS2 so far, curiously the game has PC multiplayer features listed in its description instead of the Xbox Live and Sony Online gameplay that you would expect to be touted.

Here's the official racy (yet somewhat sparse) game info straight from THQ:

Get ready to unleash the power, the speed, the heart stopping, gear mashing, engine-screaming action of MX Unleashed! Go bar-to-bar against the top champions in the world with physics so real that you'll feel as though you are three stories high clearing a triple, whipping your bike around a corner to take the lead, or thrown like a rag doll as you accelerate over the whoops. Prepare yourself for mud, dirt, high speeds, and serious attitude. Rainbow Studios, the masters of off road racing games, returns to their heritage to bring the definitive next generation MX game to life.

Based on Rainbow Studios past work, MX Unleashed! should be a solid choice in early 2004 for motocross racing gaming fans right on muddy track to provide pure dirt bike racing enjoyment, especially if it supports online play over Xbox Live or Sony Online. It looks good right now, and if the overabundance of promised features make it all the way into the final version of the game, Rainbow Studios will have revved up another winner.
