Outlaw Tennis

They took over golf. Then they took over volleyball. Now the outlaws are taking over tennis.

The Outlaw franchises have established a rough and tumble, down and dirty style with a whopping helping of sex appeal for their gameplay’s modus operandi. Starring the criminal underworld, strippers (who can forget the sultry stripper tandem of Summer and Autumn), and other “outlaws” of the moral right, both Outlaw Golf and then Outlaw Volleyball not only brought sex and violence into a sports game to a guiltily enjoyable level, they were actually pretty good sports games for their genre.

Now it’s time for tennis to get in the naughty fray, with plenty of Outlaw franchise goodies that promise to bring new meaning to ball busting.

Here’s the official game info:

Outlaw Tennis is a top quality tennis sim combined with the outrageous characters, play modes and humor of the Outlaw series of games. The fighting/composure system that is unique to the Outlaw series adds a whole new dimension to the otherwise conservative world of tennis. Get ready to hit the courts, beat the daylights out of your opponent and cause a “racquet”.

7 Match modes—including: Classic Tennis, Hot Potato, Casino, Baseball, Football Rules, Cash Zones, and Ping-Pong.

Multiple shot and serve types.

Momentum—the amount of momentum you have in the game determines how quickly a players Turbo Meter regenerates. Turbo Power allows players to use their Turbo Run, Turbo Serves, Turbo Shots and Signature Shots. Each player has a momentum meter that is prominently displayed in the top corners of the screen. Momentum decreases with every volley that is lost and increases with every volley won. It also regenerates over time so that players that are losing badly still have a chance of staying in the game.

Soundtracks—Outlaw Tennis comes with an existing catalog of songs and allows for custom soundtracks.

Online Play—Play online with up to 4 friends and play in tournaments with Xbox Live.

The Outlaw games have proven to be good sports titles with plenty of low-brow humor with sexual innuendoes flying in every direction at 100 miles per hour. Expect the same in Outlaw Tennis, and online play (mentioned only for the Xbox, but I’ll assume the PS2 version probably will have online capabilities) brings a new dimension to the trademark tawdry and titillating gameplay.
