Prince of Persia 2
The Prince returns to next gen consoles, this time after a much shorter break than before. It took Ubisoft roughly a decade (even more) to recreate the classic hero with the help of Jordan Mechner, the creator of the Prince, and make one of the best games of 2003, Sands of Time. Now, only a year later, the swords are drawn once again and the Prince is fighting an enemy far greater than any he has fought before: time. This time around the settings look a lot darker. Supposedly the prince has seen the future his own death. An immortal group of creatures, known as the Dahaka, are after the Prince – and are going to give him more than candy-kisses. The combat system of Prince of Persia 2 (PoP2) will be much more complex than last time around. Prince of Persia introduced a revolutionary fighting style, similar to that in Ninja Gaiden, which helped springboard the game into popularity. PoP2 will build on the same engine only this time introduce a “freestyle” form of combat. This can only mean more action, less restraint, and some absolutely astonishing visuals.

Little is known about the story other than the fact that the prince is hunted by the Dahaka. What hasn’t been revealed yet is the playability of a second character. As most who have played the first Prince of Persia game know there was a strong female character, Farah, who helped the prince along his journey. Her whereabouts in the new game are still a mystery but she hasn’t been counted out yet. Instead of using a dagger to travel through time the prince uses Farah’s medallion, which carries the same power, instead. So what happened to the dagger? Does Farah have it? These are the itchy questions still unanswered. |
