Star
Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
The
makers of the generally well-received Indiana Jones and the Emperor’s
Tomb was the Collective’s previous action game for LucasArts. They get a second chance at a LucasFilm property with Star Wars
Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and from what I’ve seen it just might
turn out to be a good action game – and approximately a light-year
beyond 2001’s Obi-wan.
Here’s
the official line from LucasArts:
The
Powers of a Jedi
Play
as Anakin Skywalker or Obi-Wan Kenobi. Experience epic duels from the film
that test your Lightsaber skills and Force powers. Enhance your Jedi with
new combo moves and upgradeable attacks.
Exclusive
Movie Content
The
only video game to feature footage from Revenge of the Sith. Gripping
sound effect from the film created by Skywalker Sound. Authentic Star Wars
soundtrack intensifies the action.
Go
Beyond the Film
Battle
through 16 interactive levels including never-before-seen locations
inspired by the film. Clash with Darth Vader and other enemies in
multiplayer duels. Unlock other characters, locations and bonuses.
I
would suggest heading over to LucasArts and taking a look at some of the
gameplay clips. If you've played the Prince of Persia games you'll
likely recognize the kind of acrobatic action that Revenge of the Sith
is going for. Of course, coupled with the flips

and
lightsaber play there are Force powers that can unleash more devastation,
which will either complicate everything or be so integrated you don't
feel confused with how to execute a move.
Star
Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith is scheduled to ship May 5, 2005
-- a couple weeks before the movie. In this respect it's
heartening to see a movie studios utilizing a videogame to generate a
bit of buzz for the film, instead of just tacking it on as a status
symbol. ("Our movie has a game!") While there seems to
be a general feeling of apathy among Star Wars fans toward Episode III,
I'm not so sure that apathy should be extended to the game.
