Vanquish

Boy, Platinum Games is keeping itself busy. It's only recently released it's much anticipated action title, Bayonetta, and already they've announced a new game they have in the works: Vanquish. Slated for both the PS3 and 360, the futuristic action title will mark the first time in four years that Shinji Mikami, of Resident Evil fame, will personally take the reigns of a new game, with Platinum's Atsushi Inaba acting as its producer.

As you might guess, information about the game is still sketchy. What we do know is that it takes place in the nearish future, and players will control an American soldier named Sam, as his country is locked in a war against the Russians (why this is has yet to be explained). Despite the protagonist being human, the majority of enemies that he will be fighting are going to be robots.

Vanquish appears to be a third person shooter, with the action being far faster, and more fluid than most other games in the genre. Looking at the sort of games that Platinum, and its predecessor, Clover, have put out, it doesn't come as too much of a surprise that this new title will play so fast.

With Vanquish only having been announced in January, and Mikami only trickling out new info about it with the occasional interview in Japan, there's still a lot that we don't know about the game. However, with it due out at the end of the year, new information is likely to come along sooner rather than later.
