Mario Galaxy 2
Nintendo does a pretty good job of keeping their popular franchises alive and kicking, releasing new editions to these series every few years. It looks like they noticed that a lot of gamers rather enjoyed Mario Galaxy, as they have already announced a sequel this past E3. The game appears to be adhering to the core gameplay that made the original fun, trying to expand on it with more characters and even more cleverly designed levels.
Obviously, there isn’t a whole lot to go on just yet. As one would expect, there will be plenty of worlds to explore in Mario Galaxy 2. There’s everything from areas being cut up by automated saws, to snow worlds, to areas with giant goombas, and one where plants appear to be constantly sprouting up. One of the most interesting to be seen so far appears to be largely made up of water, but players can jump on certain buttons that instantly turn this water into ice. If this is any indication, it seems that there will be some interesting manipulation of the environments for the sequel.

One thing that looks particularly interesting about this sequel is that players will be able to ride Yoshi in it. Footage of the game thus far shows a number of times where Mario is riding on his back, zipping around. Yoshi was doing a sprint at one point while all red in the face, and another time he was all puffed up and blowing downward to help him float in the air. |

Since the game was unveiled, it has come to light that Shigeru Miyamoto (the brains behind many of Nintendo’s games) wants to keep the story in Mario Galaxy 2 as simple as possible. This has received mixed reactions from the denizens of the internet, as some really liked the story elements in the last Galaxy game, while others like the back to basics approach that such a move suggests.
As of yet, there is no release date stated for the game yet. Looking at the footage thus far, it appears Nintendo has a lot planned for Mario Galaxy 2. Given how popular the first one was, we suspect that there will be a lot of people eagerly anticipating this sequel.
