Wii
Play
While North American’s got Wii Sports packed in with their Wii at launch time, Nintendo released a pair of Wii compilation games in Japan, one being Wii Sports, and the other Wii Play. Unlike the sports offering, Play is a collection of |

mini-games a la Mario Party and games of that ilk. Now the title is only weeks away from final being released in the US.
While there are plenty of different things that players can do in the many different games found in Wii Play, the title is going to be facing some stiff competition. There is already a very robust collection of mini-games |

that comes offered with Super Monkey Ball on the Wii, and Rayman
Raving Rabbids is no slouch either.
That being said, Wii Play is going to have to fight pretty hard
for the hearts and minds of North American gamers.
By
comparison to similar games already on the market, Wii Play will have
significantly fewer games, clocking in at eight when all is said and
done. However, these
games don’t feel as “mini” as that in other collections
available. Here players
can expect games like air hockey and billiards, with a few slightly
more quirky, unusual entries to mix things up a bit.
It’s important to note that Wii Play was originally intended
to serve a similar purpose as Wii Sports whereby it not only
entertains, but also acts as a means of introducing players to the
control scheme of the Wii.
When
the game first came out in Japan, Wii Play proved quite popular.
It should be interesting to see how it does here, as it will be
facing competition from monkeys and rabbits.
