Lux-PainScore: 3.0 / 10
There must have been something critical lost in translation when Lux-Pain was brought over from Japan because I was a few hours into the adventure and I still had very little understanding of what the hell was actually going on. And though |

the brief Wikipedia entry filled in one or two blanks – “It seems "Silent", a worm born through hate and sadness, has infected humans and forced them to commit atrocious crimes” – it didn’t actually help because the “adventure” plods at such a pace and was filled with so many characters I never had a clue as to what was important or what I should be doing.

lines and lines of text, the other thing you’ll do in Lux-Pain is scribble on the touchscreen as you attempt to de-worm most of the characters in the game. It’s definitely not enough to break the monotony and boredom of the rest of the experience.
The voice acting for a lot of the text portions is actually pretty good and the graphics are big and bright, but it old makes me pine for the possibility of old Sierra and LucasArts adventure titles being ported to the DS. I can imagine the first “talkie” Gabriel Knight game being ported or Full Throttle… that would be awesome. The fact that I was thinking wistfully about these games re-appearing speaks volumes for how much Lux-Pain is a waste of time.
