I really like KOHLER’s K-15160 Coralais kitchen faucet unit. It’s one of the only white kitchen faucets you’ll ever see me recommend. They usually look tacky and end up getting all yellowed and dirty, but KOHLER’s Coralais model does neither!
At a glance, the K-15160 has a number of awesome features that make it a great pick for any kitchen: it’s a single handle unit that fulfills the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act, it boasts fantastic temperature controls (including a built-in limit as well as temperature memory), you control the stream/spray toggle with a very simple touch button, and it comes with a single ceramic valve (and “MasterClean” technology) that mitigates hard water and mineral buildup and is incredibly easy to clean.
My personal experience here is with the “K-15160-L-0” model, which is the white version of this faucet. But, you can get the exact same model in a number of different colors/finishes if white doesn’t quite do it for you.
KOHLER K-15160 Coralais Style
So, let’s talk some more about the white color. At face value, people either love the idea of a white kitchen appliance, or they hate it. I typically find myself in the latter camp, although I truly was swayed a bit by this gorgeous K-15160 model.
The issue with white kitchen appliances is that they tend to lose their pearly white sheen rather quickly, and start appearing yellowed or gray due to frequent use, dirt buildup, and eventually just old age.
I’m under no illusion that the KOHLER Coralais will stay this white forever – I know it won’t. That being said, KOHLER goes to great lengths to ensure that the faucet will stay white and glowing for as long as possible. They make it incredibly easy to clean via the one-piece ceramic valve and “MasterClean” technology spray face. Both of these little innovations help to deter hard water buildup and mineral deposits in day-to-day use.
Overall, I have to say I’m a big fan of this stylish little faucet. You just have to commit to keeping it extra clean, unless you want everyone to notice your dirty “used to be white” faucet a few months after you install it.
KOHLER K-15160 Coralais Specifications
I’ll briefly go over the boring numbers – you have to make sure the faucet model will actually fit into your sink enclosure, after all!
The KOHLER K-15160 measures 9 x 10.5 x 11.6 inches at it’s tallest/longest/widest points, and is a single hole, deck mounted installation. The whole thing weighs around 5 pounds, and the equipment results in a 2.2 GPM (8.3 LPM) flow rate.
The KOHLER hardware also includes a double-interlock brass hose, which prevents the flow hoses from kinking.
- Single-control handle meets ADA requirements
- One-piece ceramic valve resists debris and hard water buildup
- High-temperature limit stop allows you to preset a comfortable maximum temperature to eliminate scalding
KOHLER K-15160 Coralais Features
KOHLER’s K-15160 was one of the easiest installs I’ve ever dealt with (it took me less than an hour to get it up and running). One thing to keep in mind, though, is that the water-supply hose attachments that ship with the faucet are pretty short. They just fit for me, so I personally didn’t have any issues, but you should measure the distance from your water supply nozzle to your faucet installation beforehand just to be safe. If you’re set on this faucet but are unsure if the hoses are long enough for your setup, you can always buy extensions!
Moving on, this KOHLER unit feels smooth when you’re swinging it around, extending the faucet, and doing whatever else you need to do with it. The faucet has a max rotation angle of 120 degrees, which is more than enough for any home kitchen sink out there. The faucet is a pull-out model as well, and features a retractable spray head that fits snugly into its “dock.” The extendable hose is more than long enough to facilitate just about any sort of use.
KOHLER K-15160 Durability
The KOHLER K-15160 Coralais might look like it’s made of plastic at first glance, but it’s actually made of sturdy metal through and through. I was actually a bit surprised by how durable and strong the faucet feels when in use – I have 0 fear of this guy breaking down any time soon.
Like I mentioned before, you can swing the faucet left and right up to a 120 degree angle. Some faucets like this feel flimsy when you do rotate them, and you just know something’s going to snap or bend eventually. The KOHLER Coralais, on the other hand, features a smooth, well-greased movement that places no extra stress on any of the metal components.
KOHLER K-15160 Coralais Extras
Let’s go back to a few features I touched on in the intro. First, we have the temperature memory feature. Simply put, the faucet “remembers” what temperature you had it set at for the next time you turn the water on. Instead of having to run the gambit of cold to hot water or hot to cold water as you wait for it to reach your desired temperature, you can turn your faucet back on knowing that it’ll start spitting out water at exactly the same temperature you left it on.
Second is the “high-temperature limit” feature. This might be the first faucet I’ve ever seen that uses this sort of technology, and I think it’s a really cool feature. Basically, you can pre-set a maximum temperature that the faucet will not exceed. For all of you who have ever scalded yourself on too-hot kitchen water, or sat there slowly messing around with the controls until you strike the perfect balance of “hot but not burning hot,” you’ll adore this feature.
KOHLER K-15160 Warranty / Replacement
The Coralais K-15160 specifically comes with a “limited lifetime warranty.” Generally speaking, KOHLER is highly regarded when it comes to customer support, warranty help, and repairs/replacements if necessary. It’s one of the main reasons KOHLER will always be one of my go to brands for kitchen faucets.
KOHLER K-15160 Coralais Conclusion
The KOHLER K-15160 Coralais is a well-constructed, functional faucet that comes with a few cool extras to boot. The brilliant white finish as an option is a welcome entry to the “white kitchen appliance” category, and KOHLER really does it well (again, there are a number of other finished/colors available if white isn’t to your taste)!
The smoothly retractable spray head, temperature limit and memory features, and mineral deposit resistant technology culminate in an awesome faucet that’s a welcome addition to any modern kitchen out there!
