I just started a new kitchen remodel two weeks ago – I had already ordered the kitchen cabinets, counter tops, and sink tub insert. However, I needed to find the right faucet and fixtures to match my client’s taste and new kitchen style. I was looking for something contemporary with an industrial feel. My client entertains quite a bit and frequently has friends over for dinner. The kitchen is the place where they always seem to congregate, so he wanted his new kitchen to say something about him, his style, and his flair for good cooking.
Kraus KPF-1602SS Style
I was going to make well sure that I had the perfect kitchen faucet to wrap up this renovation, so I was very pleasantly surprised when I came across this Kraus KPF-1602SS Single Handle Commercial faucet. It looked like something that one might find in Wolfgang Puck’s kitchen or Chef Gordon Ramsey’s kitchen. The lead-free brass construction promises years of use with a resistance to rust and corrosion. The inside is solid brass. Everyone knows that brass is a hallmark of quality in plumbing fixtures, even though many new faucets today are made almost totally of plastic. The stainless steel finish matched refrigerator/freezer and oven unit perfectly. I was immediately drawn to this particular faucet because it has a sleek, shiny contemporary appearance with a touch of the industrial look. This is exactly what my client was looking for.
The Kraus KPF-1602SS has a heavy-duty commercial-style spring design. This faucet does not overpower the sink or the kitchen, but it puts one in mind of something that belongs in the finest of restaurants. It is a smaller version of the industrial, professional faucets seen in all of the large, industrial kitchens. I believe this faucet conveys the sense of importance my client places on his kitchen. Together, with all of the other stainless steel appliances he owns, people will know that he take great pride in food preparation, cooking, and clean up.
Kraus KPF-1602SS Specifications
All of the mounting hardware was included with this faucet. The one-hole design allowed for quick and easy mounting. The faucet hole size is 1.375”. This faucet was very easy to install. The faucet height is 29” to 32”. The spout has a height of 11.5” with a reach of 8.5”. The spout will swivel 360 degrees. The KPF-1602SS unit can fit up to a maximum 1.75” deck thickness.
The faucet installation process proved to be trouble-free. In fact, I did not even have to use plumber’s putty. Both the faucet and the base of the faucet use O-rings. I ended up using some teflon tape on the shut-off valve threads. Overall, this thing comes with everything you need for an incredibly easy installation.
Another good feature of this specific faucet is that it automatically switches from the faucet to the sprayer when you activate the sprayer handle. The sprayer handle also has a locking mechanism on it which will allow you to keep it hands free or to make it default to the sprayer.

Kraus KPF-1602SS Features
One thing that I really hate about faucets is when they begin to drip. I was excited to find that this Kraus faucet came with a high performance/low flow Neoperl aerator and a precision Kerox ceramic cartridge which will keep this device drip-free for years. While I chose the stainless steel finish, the KPF-1602SS also comes in a chrome finish.
The Kerox ceramic cartridge is one of the best in the faucet industry. In fact, the Kerox ceramic cartridge has been tested with over 500,000 cycles. This helps to ensure that the faucet will last a long time and remain drip-free. The high-performance/low-flow Neoperl aerator helps to reduce water waste without sacrificing water pressure. Lastly, easy-clean rubber nozzles help to prevent the buildup of hard-water stains and the growth of bacteria. I was very pleased to find out this this top quality product was manufactured with high-quality parts.
One of the other features of this faucet that makes me happy is the integrated two-way diverter for smooth flow control. I can use the pull down spray head or the side pot filler. This allows for practicality and flexibility in the kitchen. The pre-rinse spray head has a great amount of power in order to get the remnants of food off the dishes. Whenever I need to fill up the tea kettle, the side pot filler does the trick nicely.
Kraus KPF-1602SS Extras
The limited lifetime warranty was a major selling point for me for this faucet. Products that come with warranties do so for a reason. The reason in this case is that the faucet is of very high quality. This unit is certified and listed by cUPC, UPC, NSF, ANSI, AB1953, CALGreen, FTC, DOE, ECE, MASS, CSA, IAPMO, SCC, and ADA. This faucet helps to conserve water because of the LiteTouch Single-Lever Flow Control. With so many areas of the country experiencing droughts, this is an ideal faucet to help you to “go green.”
Kraus KPF-1602SS Conclusion
While the Kraus unit was a little more expensive than the average faucet, the quality and visual appeal my client received will take him years into the future.
The industrial feel of this particular faucet gives my kitchen a feel of toughness or durability. Industrial products are known to be sturdy and professional. All of these adjectives would describe my client’s entire kitchen now. He was skeptical that we would find a faucet that would help complete this commercial look he was going for.
If you are looking for quality, durability, style, and functionality in a faucet, then the Kraus KPF-1602SS unit is the one you should purchase..
