Tekken Tag Tournament
Direct Audio
The
Tekken games have always had an interesting mix of techno tracks and
very groove-oriented tunes. Direct Audio is no exception to this. As one
would expect all of the tracks from the PS2 fighter are present and
accounted for, so the intro song, menu select music, and all of the
characters’ themes are included. A nice addition to the soundtrack is
four remixes at the end of the disc, with some different takes on some
of the songs.
This
CD is great for many different situations, whether listening to music
while working on the computer, driving around (day or night), or just
sitting down and giving it your undivided attention. It’s a very solid
line-up of music, with standout tracks like the themes for Hwoarang,
Eddy, Ogre, and Xiaoyu, not to mention the Staff Roll, and theme remixes
for Lei and Xiaoyu. The only downside to the soundtrack is that there
are a number of extremely short tracks ranging from five to thirty
seconds that hurt the overall flow of the CD, making for a choppier
listening experience. However, these can be programmed out on most CD
players’ playlists for those wanting a smoother aural ride.
If
you’re looking for a nice mix of 70s funk, interesting rhythmic
tracks, and some straight ahead techno, Tekken Tag Tournament Direct
Audio is definitely a disc to consider.
