Batman (The Dark Knight Version) by
Hot Toys

Hot Toys has become a company that can somehow
reliably manage to release figures like hot cakes, while maintaining top
notch quality sculpts. The Dark Knight costume version of Batman is no
exception. It is a beautiful sculpt and he looks like he's about to kick
some serious ass.
I feel I should get this off my chest right away. I have been known to
possess some very bad luck and that has me very paranoid with this
figure. The suit is all made of

rubber. If you take a look at some figures
like the very expensive ED-209 or Medicom's Goku or Misa figures, you'll
notice some wear and tear over a period of time. These figures are way
too expensive to have a big problem like deterioration. Hopefully, this
will not be the case with Batman. I have not seen any complaints yet
which is good and I have faith in Hot Toys. Just to play things on the
safe side, I do not

plan to pose him very often.
Some known issues is that Batman has sort of a beer belly, but if posed
right, you can mask the majority of it. I have heard that the 2nd wave
(the one I got) doesn't have as many issues with the beer belly and
thick legs, but I hear different things and have never, unfortunately,
come across any good comparison shots. Another issue is the blades on
his gauntlets falling off too easily. I haven't touched my figure very
much so I have not run into this issue yet. Last, but not least, I have
seen people post about the legs and shoulders breaking as well as the
wrist pegs. What I would suggest is using a hair dryer before switching
hands.
Accessories include extra hands, two batrangs, grappling gun, a stand
and a mini bomb. There is also a Bruce Wayne head if you feel like
changing things up, or you could do what I did and buy a 1/6 scaled body
and some clothes and attach the Bruce Wayne head on that body thus
getting two for the price of one.
I have fooled around with a few poses and he surprising has a great
range of articulation for being in a rubber suit. He can kick better
than most articulated 6" scaled toys. There are some restrictions, but
it's not all that bad. Some very nice work here and HTs sure knows how
to please their fans.
Paint apps are great. Just what you would expect from Hot Toys.
Everything looks as close as you could get to perfect and HTs never
seems to fail in this department. Even on the accessories, it all just
looks very clean.
This is a very pricey fig, but you get what you pay for. It is museum
quality and no Sideshow fig will top it. If you can manage to get your
hands on one of these, it will certainly be worth it. If you really have
a lot of extra cash then you might want to think about purchasing the
HTs Tumbler coming out this month to go with it.
