Blanka (Street Fighter II)

by Resaurus

Street Fighter is one of the most recognizable licenses in the world of electronic entertainment. Numerous games, t-shirts, coffee mugs and even a movie have been produced. The latest in this long line is Resaurus’ slick action figures. Blanka is

part of a six figure series and a crowd favorite.

Blanka is a big figure and the heaviest of the bunch. He comes in two colours, the yellow and orange first player, and the blue and orange second player. The hair on his chest and head

is made out rubberized plastic, while the rest of his body is the familiar action figure plastic we all know and love. The

likeness is good for this kind of figure. Videogame figures have always had a rough time being translated from pixel to plastic (witness Playmates Lara Croft figure) but the figure is big enough to have good detail. The broken leg irons are on his ankles, the jaw is open and menacing, his shorts are suitable tattered and his fingernails are sharp and brown around the edges. The only flaw is that he’s been given pupils. In the original Street Fight II Blanka is without pupils. But that’s only a little quibble.

Blanka is top-heavy which makes standing him up difficult. He comes with flashy disc-like base for him to stand on. But some careful posing is still required to avoid the dreaded "enter the room and he falls over" syndrome. Some of this can be alleviated by using one of his arms as a third point of ground contact, a tripod effect. Articulation is limited to eight points but works well for this type of figure. His shoulders are ball joints allowing for some cool poses. Blanka is a solid figure. The Cutlas test, in which a Dodge Cutlas Cierra is driven over the figure, was performed and Blanka came through with flying colours (in several pieces).
