Elite, Red (Halo)

by Joyride Studios

red elite

The most feared warriors of the Covenant are now the most feared figures in the world!

The most noticeable thing about the 8” tall Red Elite figure is his balance problem. No matter what you do, you can’t get him to stand on his own. It’s just not possible! This is partially due to his awkward leg positioning. (The positioning appears the same in the game; I’m just saying it’s awkward by human standards). His upper body weighs more than the lower half and he’s leaning forward a bit. This is the primary cause of his balance problem. Unfortunately there’s not much you can do. What I suggest is propping him against wall or something.

Besides the balance problem, another thing bad about Elite’s sculpt is that the articulation is too loose on the arms. I don’t know if it’s just my figure in particular, but there’s no telling where his left arm will swing to next! It either eventually weighs down to the left or right. This makes it really hard to keep him positioned.

The sculpt job on this figure looks very identical to the game. If kids don’t mind the loose articulation and poor balance, this figure can be a very fun toy to play with.

The red paintjob was done fairly well. A darkish red tone was used

but the blue really makes the red stand out. In other words, it looks like what it’s supposed to. His weapons also have good tones of paint, which makes it look similar to the game.

Elite comes with two weapons, the plasma pistol and the needler. The weapons are easy to put in his hands and they stay on with a firm grip. There are no other accessories included, but, I do feel that Joyride should’ve included a base to help him stand.

Would I suggest buying an Elite figure? This is a real tough decision. If you want to use him for playing purposes, than I would have to go with a “yes” answer, but if you want him for display purposes only, I would have to go with “no.”
