Faith (Angel)

by Moore Action Collectibles

Why is it that George Michael is the first thing that springs to mind whenever I think about Faith?

“Oooohooooh, 'cause I gotta have, faith-a, faith-a, faith!”

Oh yeah, that’s why.

Faith is one articulated figure!  17 points of articulation is good by any action figure standard but what elevates Faith is that articulation points can be used in concert to create some cool poses and action stances.  Actually, much of the poses can be achieved simply because she has hinged ankles.  It’s good to see MAC giving their figures this very essential point of articulation.

All the articulation makes it difficult to get Faith standing without her base, but it can be done.  Even installed on the base she has a wide variety of poses possible.  Pegging one foot into the base allows for heroic stances and lot more variety.  As a display piece, you can always keep Faith looking fresh, especially when the multiple accessories are factored into the equation.  The accessories fit easily in her hands and the accessories packed with the other Buffy and Angel figures can also be used. (And can act as spares if you lose one or two pieces.)

The base itself is top notch and

easy to assemble. (The concrete walls have to be pegged into each other then the base.)  Detail is fairly high and it has small touches like the small rat in the corner and the claw marks on the wall.

The sculpt of Faith is good, but the likeness is so-so.  If this figure wasn’t based on a real person, I’d say the sculpt was excellent, but I’ve got to apply more scrutiny when dealing with TV properties.  The paint job is very good.

When it comes to playing with Faith, you run the risk of snapping off appendages and losing accessories – I strongly recommend against any kind of rough play.  She is very compatible with the other Buffy and Angel figures, so setting up interesting dioramas or having a “play break” at work is no problem. (A play break tip: Close your office door before commencing.)  And because Faith is so articulated fitting her in He-Man vehicles is not only possible, it’s recommended. (By me at any rate.)  If her joints held up a little better, her playability score would bemuch higher.

Faith is a good figure overall.  While she leans toward display piece – with her great paint application, articulation, and accessories – she does have some play possibilities if you’re careful.
