Freddy
Quimby practically embodies what it means to be self-absorbed and
completely arrogant.Demonstrating
such characteristics on the show is a simple matter, which is why it’s
surprising that his action figure manages to convey Freddy’s smugness.
Freddy sports the standard Simpson articulation and stature: 4 points
and 5” tall.He is a
complete translation of his cartoon counterpart, thanks, in no small
part to his included accessories.
He
comes packed with a surfboard, golf bag (with one removable club) and a
bowl of chowder (or “chow-dah” depending on where you’re from). The bowl of chowder is taken right from Freddy’s most notable
appearance when he’s put on trial for assaulting a French chef. It’s also the smallest accessory and therefore the most likely
to be lost.The other
accessories are perfectly suited for the figure, but the surfboard is
mostly useless in terms of playability but it can be posed under
Freddy’s left arm.His
golf bag can be looped on either arm but it makes it impossible to keep
him standing unless you have him installed on

a
playset or leaned
against something.A neat
feature of the golf bag is that one of the clubs can be removed. So, no
complaints about the accessories.
No
complaints about the color either.A pink shirt (with a green crest) just screams, “arrogance”
as does the coiffed hairstyle. As we’ve come to expect from the Simpson figures, the
colors have been nailed (along with the sculpt).
Freddy
should be especially attractive to collectors, but the more moderate
collector – someone who actually open their toys – will find Freddy has
the very good display properties with a lot of play potential (and
durability to match).
